Annual Pass-any "advantage" to getting it thru MS in the mail??

Mike - thanks for the quick response. Since I'm going to spend the money anyway I might as well order the AP's soon. It appears as though they're good "indefinitely" as long as they're not actually activiated. One less detail to stress about.

I'm wondering what sort of ID is required to process the vouchers @ the gate, including children?

I agree with the rising gas prices. As soon as the hurricane hit we filled up all the vehicles. Everytime we ride past our local station, the prices are higher. One of our cars takes premium. My mechanic sez it's ok to run it on medium grade - good thing, or @ $4 gallon it would be sitting in the driveway a long time.

Just the adults have to present an ID (drivers license) at Guest Services to activate the AP. They just ask for birthdates for the kids. Have fun!

ok, sorry i am a little slow... :rotfl:

so we are looking into purchasing ap's for our upcoming trip oct 15th-27th. when should we call ms and purchase them? we always go in oct, so when we go next year, will we able able to use them again before we have to pay for the renewal or will they expire the date that we purchase them, say i call next week, sept 6th? just can't follow if they expire the first day of use or when we order them.. i would really like to get 2 visits out of the deal for this year..

thank you for any help!!!

Hi The AP expire one year after to activate them not purchase the voucher. So if you buy voucher in Sept and don't acitvate it til you get there in Oct, they will be good from Oct 15 to OCT16 06. We do that all the time. I purchased my vouchers last month and will activate when we get there on Oct 5 and then can use til Oct 5 06. We also go in March so will get 3 trips in. You can call and order them or do it on line. I did it on line and got my DVC discount. Just go to the DVC site and look for the link and when you purchase the discount show up. Hope this helps. :earsgirl: Carol

Hi Kristin,
You can order the vouchers whenever. The clock doesn't start ticking until you actually activate the AP. So as long as your second trip ends within the 366 day window you will be fine.

thank you very much for your help.. i was thinking that they would be good until the end of oct 2006 for some reason.. now i understand that they will expire one year from the first day i activate them.. i knew i could count on your help!!

thanks again!

I am a little confused now. When I get my Ap's I am going to also get the DDE.

Here's where I get confused....When/why do I get a voucher instead of a regular pass?

Can I do a will call with the DDE or do I have the DDE card sent to me?

Hi maciec,
In order for you to be able to call for the DDE card, you will need to have either an AP voucher or an actual AP in hand as they will have you read the numbers off the back of it. If you are doing a will call with your APs, then you will have to call to order your DDE once you pick up your APs. They will fax your letter over to Guest Services and you should be able to pick it up after 5:00 pm. At least that is what has been reported here before. I have no firsthand knowledge of the will call process. In my opinion, it is a lot easier to have the AP voucher mailed to you and order the DDE card before you leave. I hope this helps.

Edited to clarify: When you order the AP, they will mail you a voucher unless you use the will call option. When you activate your AP at WDW you turn in the voucher and they will give you the actual AP.

You get a voucher (which needs to be exchanged for an actual pass at one of the main parks or DD) when you order online or by phone. If you buy onsite you get the actual activated pass.

If there is not enough time to receive the DDE card(s) before you leave home for WDW, the DDE CM will arrange for you to pick up a temporary card at EPCOT (Guest Relations at main EPCOT entrance only).

Best wishes -

Ok, here are my questions.

1) Where can I activate my AP and how long does it usually take? Can you do it at your resort (somehow I am thinking the answer is no)?

2) If I wait until the last minute to order the DDE so that it is active the longest possible time, where do I pick it up when I arrive at WDW? Can I have it waiting for me at my resort (VWL)?

Also, I have heard that DDE is active until the end of the month that you order it in. Is this true? So, if my trip isn't until 12/11/05, can I order it 12/1/05 and have it good until 12/31/06?

You can exchange your voucher for the actual pass at any of the major parks or at one of the Guest Relations Offices at Downtown Disney. It takes just a few minutes - about the same amount of time that it takes to just buy the pass. None of the resorts can handle any type of transaction involving annual passes.

Disney Dining will send a temporary DDE card to the Guest Relations Booth at EPCOT's main entrance. That is the only place you can currently get the temporary card.

Yes, that is true.

CarolMN,
Thanks so much for the response. How long does it take to get the DDE card in the mail? Trying to think if I need that extra month after all. I think most of my planned trips are early next year (besides my december trip this year).

TIA

Ryan,

The card will take up to 3 weeks to arrive in the mail. It could be good for more than a year. If you order it in the second half of September for instance, it will not expire until 10/31/06 - effectively giving you 12.5 months of use for the DDE card.

Can the DDE card be used at most WDW restaurants or is it a short list like the DVC discounts or the AP discounts that give us 10%? Is there a place to see the list if participating restaurants?

Check out www.allearsnet.com. I looked a few days ago and they had all the perks listed for DDE.

Another question- If I order my AP can I get into the "Ap best rate program" for other resorts with just the voucher.?

Mike & CarolMN,
Thanks so much for the info. I have my plan now. I am going to try and order it the second half of Nov. to have it arrive before my trip on Dec 11th. If I get nervous and order it early, then I only cut off a month, which for me, probably won't matter.

Thanks again.

SOunds like a good plan. We are going to order ours the last week of November for a trip that starts December 31. I want to make sure the card is good for an early December '06 trip too.
