Annual pass 13 month deal question?

I know Disney has a promo that runs through January for the AP. It will be valid for 13 months. My question is regarding the date of activation? Is there a time frame that it must be activated by? Example, can I wait till September 2018 to activate?

WHAT?! This is awesome news! I have a trip planned for our fall break (Oct 15-20, 2017) and again in 2018...but the dates are a week later, making the 12-month AP useless. I am working really hard right now at saving up the funds for our spring break trip to HHI and trying to obtain $600 by January was probably not going to happen so I would have to simply deal with the added expense of buying two different 5-day hoppers. If I can put off the 13-month AP purchase until October, I may even have enough earned up to get 2 for my DD's who will be going in 2018 and again in 2019, also a week later.

I'm definitely going to keep an eye on this

Where did you see that you don't have to purchase the AP till October to get the 13 months? The website still shows Jan 3 as the deadline, and CMs have been known to be wrong sometimes so it'd be great to have a reliable source.

I talked with a CM on the phone this morning and she explained that the extension from Jan. 3 to May 1 was to cover the entire year of Disney World's 45th anniversary (and, I'm sure, to sell more AP's). Even though she seemed quite knowledgable about the subject, I was still going to call again towards the end of December to reconfirmed. I would suggest that anyone interested in the 13 month AP's do the same and then post here.

Sorry. I've had too many Disney dates on my mind. According to the CM, it was extended from January 3 to October 1

@Dean1953, I'm not doubting you at all, but has anyone else received the same information? I believe that you were given this information by a CM so it is not you that I am questioning. I am just curious if this is a case of a misinformed CM that is perhaps passing out the wrong information. The website still clearly shows January 3, 2017 as the deadline for purchase. While October 1 would definitely work in my favor, I would really like to see that date verified from multiple sources.

When does Disney traditionally raise ticket prices? I'd like to make sure I get this year's pricing. I would like to wait as long as possible to purchase if there is an 18 month window to activate!

I think I may be confused. One can purchase the AP promo until 10/17 instead of the January/17.
So does the activation date directly correlate to ur Purchase date? Or you can buy in 1/17 then not even activate it until the 1/17 date and from that point get 13 mos?

From what I've read, you can purchase the AP (until 1/17 or 10/17 depending on if they did extend the offer) and activate it at a later date (up to 18 months in the future according to other posts) and still get 13 months from the date of activation. (Hope that helps clear up your question).

I'm getting conflicting information from Disney about the extension from January 3 through the end of September. Today, calling and getting someone in tickets, I was told that those that have current AP's that expire from now through the end of September can renew and they will get the 13 months. People that want new AP's must buy by the January 3rd deadline to get the 13 months promotion. I'll be buying mine in the next week.
