With this years annual meeting coming up does anyone expect and significant announcements coming from the new leadership
After reading the Kidani housekeeping thread I hope someone brings that up at the meeting. Ideally someone who has experienced this kind of thing first hand!!![]()
Don't we all? The past few years has been disappointing for DVC. We all just want the leadership to bring back the MAGIC, whatever that is for each member . . .
If there are any major announcements / changes, they will be a result of Jim Lewis work. There won't have been enough time for the new VP to have any real impact. Even the smallest changes take months or years to work through the politics at a company like Disney.
Besides Claire Bilby was given the job in August but didn't really start until a few weeks ago since other duties had to be transitioned. And she's very much in a learning phase. She has no background with DVC and isn't going to charge in and start recklessly making changes.

BillSome housekeeping issue is raised at every meeting. Problem is none of us can truly put these stories in perspective. There are now 3500 - 4500 DVC villas at Walt Disney World alone. Even if housekeeping has a 99% satisfaction rate, that's still a couple dozen rooms per week which may have issues.
Given my own experiences and the relatively low volume of complaints, I'm inclined to think that poor experiences are still few and far between. Most poor experiences appear to have some element of Murphy's Law (room released prematurely, late departing guest, severely damaged room, guest returned to room after cleaned, etc.)
And that's pretty much what Disney will say, too. "We strive for the best...please report any problems so that we can fix them...etc. "
Given that individual members' expectations are often at odds, that will never happen.
I went several times on cash ressies and was starting to wonder if I had made a big mistake!!I'll bet we're promised an online reservation system, as we have been promised for the last 5 or 6 years.![]()
Hey, they've never defined the word "soon" when talking about that. So at least they are not spouting false statements.
Are you supposed to register for the meeting or do you just show up with your DVC member card?

I'm keeping my expectations low for any big changes because a few executive positions changed hands. I think folks are giving Jim Lewis way too much credit as to the amount of power and influence he had. Maybe I'll be surprised.
I agree with previous comments that there hasn't been enough time under the new leadership to expect much.
One thing that would absolutely thrill me would be to see a sign that DVC wants to improve their very poor track record on member communications. I'm really rather disapointed that every rule/policy change gets reported on these boards long before anything appears on the member web site, in an email to members, or in the magazine. We only find out DVC is changing things when members call MS and hear, "Oh no, that changed."
One way the new management could show they want to improve communications would be to stream the membership meeting online. That would allow all members the opportunity to listen, rather than only those who plan to be in Florida at the time.
I won't hold my breath, though. The membership meeting has never been about communicating with members or getting information out. It's only about meeting the legal requirement to hold an annual meeting.
I'll plan on getting my info from those of you who are nice enough to take great notes at the meeting and post them on DIS.
