Annual Dues....Monthly Payment

I was curious to hear from my fellow DVC members who are paying their annual dues with the monthly payment option.

I'd like to hear how that is working for you guys.

I joined DVC in April 2005, so January 2006 was my first annual due payment and I paid as a lump sum.

I know DVC members will be getting their annual dues statement this December to be paid by January 2007.

After hearing what you guys have to say, I'm considering doing the monthy payment option.

I'm just wondering, if I chose to go with the monthly payment option, do I have to wait until I've paid the upcoming annual due, so they can start me on the monthly payment plan at the beginning of 2007 or can I call now and tell Member Services?

Hey Kyle...we bought our DVC in January 06 on resale, so we could not do the monthly until this upcoming year. If you call member services, just ask them to send you the form to complete, which just includes your routing number and your bank account number.

When we received ours, there were no instructions to send it and the form says to include a cancelled check. So, I called MS to ask them about the address, and they told me I could fax it in, and they gave me the fax number. I asked her about the voided check, and she told me they did not need it. I faxed it to 407-938-4117.

Hope that helps.

The monthly payment of dues has been working just great for us!

When we were making those decisions when we bought in September, we were told by our guide that there was no benefit for paying the lump sum and no penalty for paying monthly. So we decided to go with the monthly.

I will always take the monthly option if there isn't a penalty for doing so and there is no incentive for paying in one lump sum.

I just signed up for the monthly option beginning in January. I called member services and they told me I had to get my request in by Nov. something and fax my checking acct info and member number. They said don't bother with a form, but call back in a week or so to see if they received it. I called back and they said I am all set!

I have my loan payment come out on the 1st

And my dues come out on the 15th .

It works out great and spreads things out .We use to put so much away each month for our trips anyhow so it's really no difference. Both payments are so small I never really have to worry about them.

Do you know if you can pay the Annual Dues monthly on credit card, great if you can. We're in Canada so don't have a US account.

I would like to know this too. We usually pay the lump sum but are adding on the end of the month  so the maintenance fee will be more. Am considering the monthly option but want it to be charged to Disney VISA and get rewards each month :cheer2: .

Anyone know???

Lump sum on CC but you have to have Debit from checking for the monthly dues.

We used to vacation in January, and paid annually by check in person at the resort when we checked-in. Now we usully vacation in Early December, and switched to monthly debit. It isn't a problem. You can have it drawn on the 1st or 15th of each month. Call now to set it up so DVC accounting has time to set up the transaction. NOTE: If you choose the 1st of the month for your draft, the January draft is always delayed until the 15th of January because it is the month they make the adjustments for over/under estimation of taxes.

Paying dues monthly worked out great for us last year. They don't charge any extra, so you get to hang onto your money longer.

It is also nice because you can pay extra on the dues if you want to. We paid monthly and then in July paid the remaining balance as a lump sum with our credit card.

The only incentive for paying lump sum is the ability to use credit card and thereby get rewards. Our annual dues are $4000+ and that would mean $40+ on our Disney rewards card. But for me the ability to spread out the pain over 12 months with no interest outweighs the $40 in rewards. When our dues were less, I always paid with credit card to get the rewards.

I'm a new member too. I plan on paying all at once for 2 reasons-

1- I'm not good with money !

2- If I pay it all at once in January I dont have to give it another thought all year , and that is worth everything else to me.

good luck with whatever you decide.
