I'm getting really annoyed with the Bijou Theater where I'm supposed to be doing Fiddler on the Roof. I called them again and was told rehearsals for fiddler start today, which I knew. They had to get a hold of the stage manager and give him my home number, so then I get a call a little later and the stage manager says they must have had the wrong number for me and tells me again that rehearsals are tonight. I wrote on the audition sheet on the conflict page that I wouldn't be able to get in town until the dorms re-open on the 9th.

So I had to explain *again* that the dorms don't open till thursday. (I've called this theatre a couple times throughout xmas break) He was supposed to call me back again to tell me what Thursday's rehearsal schedule is but still hasn't. ARGH!

I'll also be really annoyed if they don't provide us with parking vouchers...the theatre is downtown, and there are no free parking areas.

I hope it all works out! Don't ya just hate it when people don't return phone calls!!!

Is this community theatre or professional? If it's community theatre -- get used to it!;)

Yeah, it's community theatre. All the shows I've done were either community theatre, school theatre, or children's theatre. I don't recall having this much problems with other theatres though. They haven't even told me what part I have yet!

I can sympathize. I've been doing community theatre for 30+ years and have never had a theatre where it was smooth-going. Also none that I've not had to lay out money to be a part of.

In fact, at lunch time today, I had to go buy myself a bathrobe and slippers for the play I'm opening in next week, "Gypsy"! This show has been a nightmare. I finally get the part of a lifetime (Mama Rose), and I'm busting my you-know-what in my part and everyone else is doing a half-baked job. They just don't have any dedication nor enthusiasm. They just figure that everything will "come together" by itself. I'm sure it will, but the show is not what it could have been.

Our director has been everything but a director. He's more into the costuming and, don't get me wrong -- everyone will LOOK GREAT, but the rest of it is second-rate. He had me outfitted a month before the the rehearsals started, but couldn't come up with the robe and slippers, so I got them myself. I usually end up getting a wig or something on my own. At least I'll be comfortable!

We open next Wednesday and we are still blocking!!! ARGGHHHHH! I'm sure you can relate.

Let me know what part you end up getting. I was Tzeitel in two productions of "Fiddler."

:D
