Announcing "The Incredibles"!

Hello to all my new teammates!

I am honored to be the captain of the newest (and undoubtedly most interesting/exciting/sexiest LOL) WISH team!

I'll ask everyone to post up, telling us a bit about yourself, your goals, likes/dislikes etc.

I'll start:

I am Veronica, a 39 yo dental hygienist, mom, wife and runner. I started running in 2007, while doing WW to lose 100 lbs. I have lost 55, 45 more to go. My goal was to run the WDW half marathon before my 40th birthday (which is this November), which I have accomplished. Next up is the Disneyland Half (gotta get the Coast to Coast bling!) and the Marine Corps Half. I have set my sights on Jan, 2013 to run my first full marathon (will be the 20th anny at WDW)

I enjoy reading, driving my VW bug convertible and working around my house and garden when I am not running. I am fortunate to have a supportive family, especially my inlaws, who train with me.

So thats me in a nutshell, tell me about you!

Are you ready to be Incredible?

Here is our Incredible line-up

Good Morning:

I am new to the WISH threads and have just started the C25K program. I just completed W3D1 and would love to join in with the Incredibles. We have a hiking trip planned for June to Rocky Mountain National Park and I am trying to improve my cardio. Hard to jump from sea level or below in Florida to higher elevations in the Rockies.

I would love to join this group to learn tips, watch everyone's progress, and meet new friends. Thank you for your consideration.

Alicia and Linda WELCOME to the Incredibles! Glad to have you along.

I am going to try to come up with a conversation starter question each week or so, if anyone has a suggestion, feel free to post up.

So here is question #1:

What is your favorite food indulgence?

Mine would have to be ice cream, especially soft ice cream. All the places are opening here now, so sometimes it can be hard to pass them by. Just have to run more/harder to make up for it!!

Chat it up people!

Steak. Rib-eyes, porterhouses, you name it. I can eat a 24 oz steak in one sitting.

I do love me a nice hunk o beef on occasion. The trouble I have is that it loves me back soo much that it takes DAYS for it to leave! And I feel sluggish and blah for those few days.

:worship: eating a 24 oz steak in one sitting.

Yeah, I am so excited to be included.

I am 45 years old, married with our dog Bailey and four pet goats. I work in the field of Emergency Management (Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Floods,) for a local government. My husband and I are very active adults and spend summers scuba diving, spearfishing, and going to the beach. We also have a second home in Colorado and enjoy hiking, skiing, and fishing. We live about two hours from WDW, but only visit once a year. I am the Disney Fan of the family and it is hard to find someone to go to the parks with. My Mom and I are scheduled on the 8 day Disney Europe Cruise this summer.

I just completed W3D1 of the C25K program. I would also like to participate next year in one of the Princess Weekend Events. Thank you for including me!!

Favorite Food has to be French Fries or Chicken Wings with a COLD Beverage!

Mine is store bought birthday cakes:cake: I can't refuse it when it is around. I worked out after work a couple of days ago and I was starving, but instead of making myself something healthy when I got home I ate left over Birthday Cake :sad2: I love it for breakfast too! And put some ice cream with it too....yummy!

Just wanted to say :welcome: to our newest team! Don't forget to come by the Monday Mixer -- it's a great place to chat with other WISH team members, and we always have a fun question (thanks, Corinna!) to start the chat!

I spy some BL participants in the team list -- so glad you are going to enjoy the fun of the teams! :dance3:

Mine would have to be Sweet Tarts and Nerds... oh and can't forget those donuts with a nice Cold Pepsi in the morning

Hi fellow incredibles!! I love this team's name, and find the fact that I am running at all to be incredible. And now I'm craving some beef. My favorite indulgence would be chocolate- be it cake, ice cream, or just plain milk chocolate. I love dove and lindt the best, but try not to buy them, but did enjoy a bag of dove easter eggs last week. Ate every last one.

Congrats on your progress in c25k. I'm just finished week 4, and am so far really liking it. I"m hoping too take part in the princess events too. We can do it. The key is to take it slow and steadily increase. The c25k seems like such a great, gradual plan.

I'm 26, live in New England (but I'm from south Jersey) and work as a meteorologist. I used to run in high school, and then sporadically through college with my now fiance. I've written the whole story here, but to shorten it up, I started training in August for the 2010 Princess Half Marathon. The race was amazing and I am so happy I did it! I'm signed up for the Rock 'n' Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon at the expo for the Princess half, so I'll be starting my training for that this summer. Until then, I'll be running regularly, of course, but doing some speedwork and hill workouts so I can improve my running for the Philly half!
Congrats on running the princess half!! I started to read your blog, and can't wait to finish it. It's amazing to read about your success, even after your sciatica. I live 20 miles north of boston, are you a meteorologist on tv? We met the fox 25 meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz at Hampton beach last year, and my son was jumping around in the background to be seen on tv. When is the philly half?

Thanks maria. I feel so lucky to have found wish and all the supportive and inspirational folks here.

Kathy-you remember DD from WISH, I really don't go over to the photo board at all. Probably from one of the BL challenges or when I did the monthly exercise challenge. I should get a new avatar, but I just love that pic of her. (she is now about 4 years older, but hey)
That's it, the exercise challenges. They are always so helpful. The picture is adorable.

I finished week 4 C25K yesterday!! I'm so excited!! My knees got a little achey, but other than that, it's really going well. I'm going to start week 5 tomorrow before we head to western ma to visit my brother for the weekend. It makes me a little nervous that day 3 of week 5 is a 20 minute run! I won't push too hard, and overdo it. I'm thinking I might do the 8 minute jogs for a couple days, before attempting the 20min. That seems like a big jump.

My name is Lauren, and I have been assigned to the Incredibles as well (what a great name!). I live near Nashville, Tennessee, have been married for almost 14 years, and have an 8yo son and a 5yo daughter. Before my kids were born, I was an elementary school teacher and reading specialist; now I am at home full-time.

I have always exercised (step and spin classes), but my 2010 goal is to be a runner. I had a rough year in 2009--I was sick constantly and was diagnosed with asthma. My health is much better, and my asthma is under control, so I am trying to get back in the exercise groove. I am on week 9 of a C25K, but I am taking a week off to try to get rid of shin pain. I really hate resting when I am so close to finishing the C25K program. However, I want to run in my first 5K on April 17th, so I don't want to mess up my legs so badly that I can't run. I am also starting some Yoga/Pilates classes to complement the running.

My ultimate goal is to run the Princess Half next year. I noticed that several of you plan to do that. (leeshiebean, your blog posts are so inspiring.)

As far as my food weaknesses, sweets are my downfall, for sure. Patsy, we have Tennessee in common, and we also have birthday cake--I LOVE IT. White cake with white icing is my favorite. I also have a huge weakness for Reese's cups, and Starburst jelly beans are my current seasonal temptation. In addition to running, I would like to lose about 10 pounds (leftover baby weight from my 5 year old), so I really need to work on cutting back on the sweets and portion control.

So glad to be an Incredible! I look forward to following everyone's progress.

Welcome, Lauren!

mikamah, awesome job on week four! I finish week 3 (of C210K) tomorrow. 57 minutes of fast walks with ten 90 second sprints. It's going to be a balmy 28 degrees while I'm running tomorrow. :rotfl:

roomthreeseventeen: I'm originally from south Jersey, not far outside Philly. How about you? I miss home!

mikamah: Thanks! I also live about 20 mins N of Boston, but I'm not on tv. Wasn't really my thing - I sit behind a desk in an office, not as exciting! A bunch of my college friends are on tv all around the country, and one of them had interned with Kevin (and AJ) at Fox 25.

mickeymomto2: Thanks as well! I thought it would be fun keep a record of my experiences in training since I'm just starting out in running again. But to keep hearing that it's inspiring people, well I think it's awesome! I know I did the same thing - read people's race reports - as well as chat on the Disboards to get myself inspired to run. It's so rewarding, both along the way and after the race!

So here is question #1:
What is your favorite food indulgence?

I love this idea! As far as my food indulgence, oh my, this is a hard one. I love food...
I guess I'd consider an indulgence something that I pass up from time to time because it's too rich or unhealthy, limiting myself to it very rarely. So in that case I would say fettuccine alfredo for a meal, and Cinnabon as a dessert. I will only do each maybe twice a year. But they're so good!

I made some signature avatars for our group! Luckily The Incredibles font was free. :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone! I'm Stephanie and I live in Sacramento, California with my husband of almost eighteen years and our two daughters. I work three days a week as a school psychologist and the rest of my time I'm pretty active with my DDs and their various activities (i.e., gymnastics, ballet, swimming, Girl Scouts where I'm a co-leader for the troop, parent participation preschool, and on and on and on). I've finally started taking the time I need to get myself into a healthier place after ten years of using various excuses (I'm pregnant, trying to get pregnant, too busy being a mom, too busy in general, and more-often-than-not, the unilateral excuse of "I just don't wanna!").

I started the C25K program at the beginning of January and have now graduated to just running. I'm not at all speedy (averaging around 15 minute miles), but I'm running pretty regularly for 30 minutes and I'm going to start incorporating one 45 minute run into my weekends. I have a 5K coming up in a few weeks (the Sacramento Zoo Zoom in my siggy below) and already have a couple of other runs planned as well. Including the Disneyland Half Marathon! My DH and I have both signed up for this one, so I'll need to start working on distance pretty soon.

My favorite food indulgance? Cookies! Especially fresh-baked Tollhouse, but Girl Scout Thin Mints are my other favorite. I just ate my last four last night, so they won't be a temptation for another eleven months. I'm proud of how I counted the calories on them every time I ate them this time, and no hoarding of them for my own consumption this time.

I think running has really helped me have a healthier outlook. It just makes my lungs feel so good which then spreads to all the other areas of my body. Truly, diet alone, or excercise alone, just don't work for me. I'm thrilled I've found an excercise that works well with my personality. And I love the WISH team motto. I'm thinking I may make a t-shirt with that on it for my upcoming race in April.

Hi Stephanie! I see you live in the Sacramento area.....well, I'm in El Dorado Hills.....just east of Folsom! I too am doing the DL Half Marathon. This will actually be my 3rd year for the DL Half. Hoping my husband will join me this year.... Where do you do your training runs? I love to go down to the American River & Lake Natomas to do mine....It is so pretty and makes the running a little more enjoyable. I've thought about doing the Zoo Zoom...we'll see. I am doing the 10K in Elk Grove this weekend - I think it is called the "Nutrition Fuels Fitness" and I'm planning on doing the Breast Cancer 5k in May.

Great to see ya here!

Oooooh a new and shiny team! I'm not with you guys as I'm a Walt's Warrior, but I just wanted to pop over and say welcome to an amazingly supportive set up. I hope your journey with each other is as 'incredible' as mine has been.

So, yikes, I just registered for my first 10k. June 12th. Pretty scary, considering I'm still at the 4.25/4.5 mile mark for endurance. But I've got a a few months to train, right?
