Announcing "The Incredibles"!

Hellooooo Incredibles! I just wanted to stop by to invite you to the Monday Mixer thread - it's a thread where people from all over WISH can gather and get to know each other a little better. This week we are talking about pets:

Do you have any pets? Tell us about your pets, past, present or imaginary!

Come on over to the Monday Mixer Thread and play if you have a few minutes - we have a new question every Monday, but you can join the chat any day of the week!

Also, my least favorite exercise is either "burpees" both for the name and the action required or possibly Jumping Jacks - they don't feel good on my knees!

Hi everyone! Well, I've officially been put on this team and I'm pretty excited about that. Thanks for the warm welcome. Tuesday is the only day of the week I work and it's an 11 hour day so I don't get to do any form of workout or run. I'm hoping my kiddos (my son is almost 3 and my daughter is almost 6 months old) let me run tomorrow (right now I'm running on the treadmill at home and they're not fond of it!).

escape - Thanks so much for the welcome! I'm glad to hear your first run was at "the happiest place on earth" like I plan on mine being. I don't know if I'd be ambitious enough to do it if it was any place else! A half (or even a full) didn't sound appealing before doing it at WDW!

PlainJane - Thank you for the welcome! I started off running doing C25K after my son was born and it did wonders for me. I'm kinda starting over with a C210K now since having my daughter but I'm getting back into it. It was a very smooth transition and you'll do great at it!

Oh yeah... the worst kind of exercise for me, well for the longest time was running. I loathed it! Wow, that's changed! Now I would have to say ab exercises. Being a mom of two, my abs don't exist!

Can someone help me out? How do a make a cute little signature like so many of you have? I'm feeling left out here!

Susie ~ I would love to do the Nike Women's Half Marathon but it is a lottery. Last year I put my name in but I wasn't chosen. I've missed this years lottery drawing but plan on trying again next year. It has some pretty steep hills from what I've been told but you're right....the bling would be SO worth it. And the year my neighbor ran it she said that when you cross the finish line men standing next to limos and dressed in tuxes gave the finishers their necklaces. Definitely one I'd like to do one year!

You haven't missed the lottery! It starts on Friday and will go for a couple of weeks. I can send you the info, if you're interested. I didn't make the lottery last year either. However, I guess due to Team In Training not being able to fill their slots, the Nike half-marathon opened back up a month before the race. Since I had been training for another half, I was able to go. That was my second Nike race. I'm hoping to be chosen this year. We'll see. As for the men at the end....from what I understand, these are local firemen all dressed up. It really is a great way to finish! ;)

You should see a little button in the top left corner of the boards called "User CP". If you hit that, you can go into "edit signature". That's where your stuff goes.

kelleydea: Thanks for the congrats. I don't pretend to be any kind of expert at this, but walking first was definitely the best decision for me. You'll have a stronger base, of walking, than myself too when you do transition to C25K. Good luck on your continuing endeavor!

ADPiSpaz16: Thanks, it's always nice to hear about positive experiences with C25K. Where did you find the C210K? I've looked all over the internet to no avail.

Just in case ADPiSpaz16 wants to add an Incredibles picture to her signiture, the link for them can be found in post 35 on page 3 by leeshiebean.

oooh....I'm I for sure going to go on their website and put my name in for the lottery...maybe I'll get lucky this year. I thought someone told me the lottery was at the beginning of March. I'm so excited to know that I haven't missed it....I really want one of those necklaces. Thank you for letting me know! Maybe since I'll be at Disneyland on Friday that will make my entry lucky :rotfl: Maybe we'll both get lucky this year and get in!

YAY! So my hubby is home from work sick (honestly, I just think he's being a big baby) so I told him I'm going running today and he can watch the kids. Today is typically my day off from any exercise but not today! I'll be doing W3D2 of the C210K!

PlainJane: It's beyond me where I found the C210K, I was still pregnant when I found it! I printed off a copy and have been working off that. If you want, I can get it to you today or tomorrow. It progresses a lot like C25K.

Roomthreeseventeen: Thanks a bunch for helping me out with the siggy. I would have never in a million years figured out how to do it. Now I just gotta think about how to make it prettier!

I'm doing C210k, also. I use the iPhone app.

Hello Incredibles! I am Tassma and a new member. My husband Rick and I have two great children: Sebastian who is 6 and Annalise who is 4. I have been a "jogger" most of my adult life, but usually half-heartedly. Last May I lost my father (who was an avid and passionate runner) and started running to feel closer to him. I feel fortunate that I am physically able to run, jump, walk and play whenever I want to. I find that I need to be training for something in order to make exercise a priority in this crazy life. I ran the WDW half marathon in January as my first Disney race and I am hooked. I signed up for the DL half over Labor Day and am looking forward to it. I am thinking about a marathon this summer, but am struggling with speedwork. I am really excited about The Incredibles and am enjoying hearing about all of you! When I am not doing laundry or running, I am an estate planning/business attorney in Wyoming. I also enjoy planning trips to Disney, whether my own or a friends.

Keep running ----

Tassma

I have some downtime at work right now which is just what the doctor ordered!

Tassma - I'm sorry to hear about your dad but what an awesome tribute to him! I'm like you in the sense that I need to train for something to make exercise a priority. I love the C210K program I'm working right now because every day I run, I can check something off the list. I wish I lived closer to WDW or DL so I can do this kind of thing more often but I'm in Indiana so I don't think I'll be able to do the half down at WDW every year. Bummer.

roomthreeseventeen - How far are you on the C210K? I wish I had an iPhone to get these awesome apps... when my phone comes up for renewal, I'm so getting one! I just registered for my first 10K which will be June 5th. I feel like it's so close I won't be able to be completely prepared for it. I'm excited by nervous!

I have no idea why but I got no sleep last night thinking about the half. It's still months away but I was so nervous. I'm pretty hard on myself and I know walking some of it is an option but I feel like it's all or nothing for me. Am I being irrational? Everyone I've told about this goal (besides my husband) thinks I'm insane for even thinking to do a half...

Jess, I just did W4D1 yesterday, will do W4D2 tomorrow. My first 10k is June 12th, just a week after yours!

Tassma, awesome tribute to your dad.

I updated our team list on the first post-if I left anyone out, please let me know.

I am not doing any running right now-horrible rains up here in the NE. Plus some pet related stress yesterday and today. Hoping to get out tomorrow to run.

Good afternoon everyone. I think it has finally stopped raining here in jersey. Dh was home all day on break and was cleaning up ther rain that got into the basement. It is supposed to nice tomorrow so I am looking forward to a nice walk outside. I am hoping to get a walk in every day during break.

I started break this afternoon. I have a great deal of things to do in 4 days so I guess I won't be sleeping in any time soon.

Off to put somethings away and start dinner. Ds won't be home so dh and I are having fish.

Have a great evening everyone.

Thanks Lisa. We attempted to adopt another dog, but she and our dog would not get along. So we had to return her to the shelter. She is a sweet dog, and will be a great family pet for some family, just not ours. The worst part is my fathers gf works at the shelter and while she understands, I don't think her friend who worked with us does. And I don't want there to be hard feelings or trouble for her. Apparently we are a one dog family.

Feeling somewhat better now, hoping to get a good nights sleep and a good run tomorrow morning. That will definately make me feel better.

Hi everyone I would like to join the party if it is not too late.My name is Linda, I am 44.I am an RN, married for 20 years and have 2 teenage DDs. I have done a few races here and at Disney.I love to run and work out but the problem is I like to eat too.

I am going to Disney in June with DD18 to have girls time and we are going to do the Expedition Everset challenge- actually the real challenge is going to be getting me on the plane without my DH- he is my rock when we fly!

I have to say I do have a hard time keeping up with what everyone is doing- the quote thing has me baffled.I can't seem to be able to quote a few people at a time so it is hard to respond one at a time as the group grows.I have been on a team before and could not keep up because of this.Any suggestions?

I love reading other peoples journals and getting motivation from them- I hope I do that for other people.

Hi Veronica!!!

Linda

 My buddy Linda is in the HOUSE!!! WOOT!!

Glad to have you here, girlfriend!!

As for the quotes, you hit the button on the bottom with the black + sign. Hit it on all the posts you want to quote. Then last one you hit the regular quote button and they are all in your post! You can delete out parts that you don't want/need to include as well.

Hope that helps!!

The beauty is that you have plenty of time to train and get it right. You may not be ready now - most people aren't when they first start. If you keep going like you are now, you'll be in great shape and ready for the half.

If you read between the lines of my story you'll see that I really didn't prepare properly for my first half. If I would have started training to train as you are doing now, I probably would not have had some of the issues I had. I almost waited too late to get going. What hurt me the most is that I did not train during hot weather. I did not know how the heat would affect me. The socks I wore during training were good for cooler weather, not the heat we had at the half. I ate some things that worked well for me in colder weather but not warmer weather. You learn what works for you through your training. By starting now, you'll know what to expect for warmer weather. Come winter time, you'll know what to wear and eat for colder weather. Come race day, you'll be prepared! :thumbsup2
Thanks for the encouragement. You made me think back a couple summers ago when I had been doing so well and exercising regularly, but when it got too hot, I'd skip a day, and then the next day til I wasn't exercising at all. I know now that I need to have regular exercise in my life, and the goal of running in disney world is such a great motivator. I will not quit this summer when the heat is on.

Thank you so much for the encouragement! Today was my first day of C25K. I am so glad I started a walking program first. It will honestly go down as one of the better decisions I've made in my life. Anyway, it went really well. I'm looking forward to Wednesday (which isn't something I would have expected myself to say earlier today).
Congrats on finishing your first day!! I am in week 5 now, and am still amazing myself that I look forward to the running days.

And the year my neighbor ran it she said that when you cross the finish line men standing next to limos and dressed in tuxes gave the finishers their necklaces.
That sounds like fun. I'm sure the disney characters are fun too.

So sorry you lost your dad, but what a wonderful way to pay him tribute. I'm sure his spirit is with you when you are running.

Hi everyone...is it too late to join?
Hi Jenn!! Welcome to the incredibles!!!

It's been nice to read and get to know everyone. I wish I had more computer time every day. I'll get out tomorrow morning and do w5d2 of c25k, so long as it isn't still pouring. If it is, I'll go after work. It is such a good feeling to want to get out and run.
