Announcement by Disney In NYC 9/23/10

Absolutely nothing new other than the theme and using home videos for their commercials and projecting pictures on the castle.

If Tom Bergeron hadn't been there, the audience probably would have been comatose, and Tom wasn't even that good beyond the opening seconds teasing them for being unprepared.

I must say I am quite disappointed in this. I dont necessarily want to take pictures of Cinderella Castle with someone else's memories plastered in the background:lmao:

Does this mean they are getting rid of wishes or the elecrical parade...

No, it sounds to be separate for that, and it won't even be every day. And I don't think it will be all day or anything like that so pictures shouldn't be a problem.

That song was pretty bad. I forgot it already.

All that excitement for nothing. Why would you put anything on the castle? Oh, geez.

Exactly--after the horrific pink cake disaster, why would you even try to mess with the castle? At least at DL they had the good sense to stick it on IASW, in a back corner of the park.

Wow that was somewhat anticlimatic. I do like memories at WDW but you would think it could have been a more exciting event with new news rahter than old news...

I'm missing an important part of this here.....how are they going to be displaying these pictures? Is there going to be a huge TV or something taking up one side of the castle? or are there going to be a bunch of monitors inside the walkway before you check in for BBB or CRT? How disruptive is this really going to be?

....and the crowd goes mild.

DLP projection, probably, on the walls of the castle.

I would guess that it would be similar to the way they showed it on the walls of the room during the press conference, only directly on the castle. Maybe like a much clearer, defined version of when they turn the castle into the Sorcerer's hat during Wishes.

Okay so it says that photopass photographers will be snapping pictures all day, and then pictures from that will be randomly selected...and it sounds like it's going to be an "event" at night...

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not going to sit around in front of the castle watching projections of pictures of people that I don't know. Even if there is some way to be notified your picture will be chosen....I still wouldn't wanna sit through the whole thing just to see mine for 5 seconds.:confused3

Great idea....baaaaad execution.

Wow, sounds like my staining shelves was way more exciting.

I even remembered to put the kitten in a room with the door closed so I don't even have a kitten jumped on the shelf leaving kitty paw prints so I had to grab her to wipe her feet before she tracked it all over the carpet story. Oh wait, that happened 2 days ago.

Sorry - a bit off topic but hey wasn't it exciting? :rotfl:

I'm most definitely not impressed by the picture on the castle thing. Yuck.

Why would you put anything on the castle? Oh, geez.

I'm probably in the minority but I like it when they do stuff to the castle, even that ugly cake. I've seen it plain a thousand times and will see it plain a thousand more. I could deal with something different for a year. That being said I'd rather they have a fixed overlay then projected pictures. Something like they did for the Happiest Celebration only themed for 40 years.

I wasn't expecting much so wasn't disappointed. I have learned that when it comes to press releases Disney over hypes and under delivers.

Yeah, but don't you feel sorry for the first timers who had to see that ugly cake, and never came back?

Leave the castle alone! For Pete's sake, why are they always screwing up the castle? What now, Jumbotron? I don't know how they're going to do it, but I don't want to see myself or any randoms on the castle, thank you very much.

I didn't even like the bling much.

Just leave the castle be.

Argh.
