Dh and I are going at the end of May for a weekend stay at the Grand. Besides a Walk in Walts Footsteps tour, what are some must see/do things that you would recommend? No kids on this trip. Rides we have covered since we are AP holders. We want to do things either at the hotel, DTD, or either park that we don't necessarily want to do with a 3, 7, and 10 year old.

And dining options? We have yet to make reservations and it doesn't have to be fancy. :) thinking maybe one meal at blue bayou. But all not-so-kid friendly that we have a decent chance of maybe getting a reservation to would be great.

When you say "end of May," does that mean Memorial Day weekend or the very last weekend in May? If the former, then you and DH might enjoy participating in some/all of the 24 hour party. Also, dining reservations may be harder to come by on that Friday (5/23), so plan accordingly. Otherwise, have you thought about dinner at the chef's counter at Napa Rose? Yes, it is sort of fancy, but a fun way to celebrate an anniversary. Same with Steakhouse 55 -- you could do dinner or breakfast, both are fun. Without kids, you might enjoy dinner and drinks inside Trader Sam's. Wine tasting flights and snacks at the Sonoma Terrace in DCA? If you enjoy dancing, there will be a live band at PFF on Saturday night (7:30pm - 11pm) for the Royal Swing Ball. You can dress up if you'd like or just go casual. Maybe book a couple's spa treatment at the Mandara Spa (isn't there an AP discount?)? How about a WOC meal at CCR? Or even a light meal with cocktails in the lounge might be nice. Whatever you choose to do, hope you and your husband have a wonderful trip!

DH and I love eating at steakhouse 55 at the DLH when we go without the kids. It's really good. Great service. Seems more "fancy" then the other restaurants.

I've also heard great things about Napa rose and Carthay. I haven't eaten at either. We aren't the most adventurous eaters so I've been torn about trying them because there's not a lot we would try on the menus.

We are going for the 24 hour event in May and eating at bb. I already made reservations. We enjoy dinner best at bb. Surf and turf is fantastic! Can't best the ambiance either ;)

I recommend checking out the menus at Disneyland.com or allears.net and see what would suit your taste best.

For sure check out Trader SAMs at the DLH too! Awesome tiki bar with great drinks! It's really fun and a must for DH and I when we are without the kids!

We are going at the very end of May. 30-June 1.

For the chefs counter (which sounds great) do they take into account pickier eaters? Dh and I like a wide variety of food but are still on the picky side. Lol.

So many options. You guys were supposed to narrow it down for me. Not make it harder!

The chef's counter has lots of experience with picky eaters, but if you and DH are on the conservative side when it comes to dining, Steakhouse 55 would be a great choice. Great service (especially for an anniversary! Be sure to let them know on your reservation and at check in), yummy food, very nice ambience.
To add to your list of options (!), how about the dessert VIP seating package for Fantasmic!? That is certainly a fun way to celebrate.

Thanks. lol Yet another option to consider. :goodvibes

Dessert package, WOC dinner package, lots of restaurants we haven't eaten at before. (As a side note, we were engaged at Rainforest Cafe in DTD).

Too many choices! :scratchin

Out of those quoted I personally having done WOC dinner packages - would just fast pass it and save the extra money. While we enjoyed it , the value imo has diminished and menus feel too limiting now.

The Fantasmic Dessert package I have not done yet but we want to ! That would be awesome !

I will say Steakhouse 55 is one DH's favorites as well as mine. Actually our first visit was on one of our anniversary trips and he surprised me with the reservation he was keeping secret for months. We have been back and with friends and each time it just keeps impressing us. Definitely keep it open as an option!

If we were sans children, we would do the following:

Walk in Walts Footsteps (you've got this on the plan already)
Wait for a time to pilot the Mk Twain
The Carthay Tour
PERHAPS powerwalk DCA (you give up EMH at DL to do it though)
The Art of Craft tour at GCH
The Spa at CCH
C33 (but its closed)
Napa (DO IT)
F! Dessert seating
BB Waterside
Ralph B's in DTD
Trader Sam's at DLH
SteakHouse 55

That pretty much rounds it out.

Here are some suggestions:

Definitely eat at Steakhouse 55. We love it there.

Take in the Carthay Circle Tour - only in the mornings and they reserve it to a small number of people.

Search out the patio area of the Grand Californian, take elevator to top floor, step out and enjoy the views and relax in the chairs up there.

Disneyland Hotel has old nostalgia photos in the hotel and a memorabilia board.

Grand Californian has an outdoor fireplace adjacent to the pool area.

Check out the little characters that are in the outdoor popcorn carts turning the popcorn. Each land and popcorn cart has a different one.

Take in the flag retreat at DL.

Take a ride down Main Street on any of the vehicles

If you try on a hat in the Mad Hatter gift shop, you might glimpse the Cheshire Cat in the mirror

Have fun!
