Wendy (me) 46 but feels 21 in mind - Disney mad, the planner
John (DH) 46 - getting almost at Disney mad as me
Glen (DS) 14 - our lovely little boy one minute, stroppy teenager the next and mature young man occasionally
Ashley (DS) 11 - the loud one! A lot of this holiday has been based around his needs with him being very special.
Saturday 13th October part 2 settling in
We found our room (no. 5172) which was only two rooms away from the lounge (very convenient for that early morning cup of coffee and very easy to call in on the way back to our rooms after a day at the parks with yet another cup of coffee!) The turndown maid was in the room (her name is Yuet - lovely lady from Hong Kong) so I ventured in reasonably restrained to check out the view which was straight down the driveway, I initially thought not the nicest view in the world but later in the week when I realised we could Wishes in the distance thought what a brill view we had.
Yuet was very amused when I discovered we had three towel animals sitting on the TV and this one in the bathroom area.
The boys making themselves at home, Ashley especially who took immediate control of the TV remote and watched Disney cartoons whenever we were in the room.
We later went to explore our new surroundings which are sooooooo beautiful.
The gorgeous view we had every time we left for the walk around the Boardwalk and Epcot and on our way to SAB.
Table tennis that had to be played on every time we passed.
Sand sculpture that someone had done, good job we took this picture as we didnt see another one during our holiday.
We made our way around the Boardwalk and found a bench to sit on and watched the sun starting to go down.
We hadnt got a change of clothes with us as Id made the decision to let the DME take the strain with the suitcases and they hadnt turned up when we came out, I started to regret not having something cooler to wear as it was surprisingly warm and we had warm clothes on as I expected the aircraft to be cold! Glen was moaning like heck and I felt my first Im going to throttle you in a minute feeling coming on! We were all in the same boat son! Made our way back to the hotel for our first ADR and dining plan experience at the Yacht Club Galley. Taken straight in to be served by Todd, who was laughing and making jokes but we were too tired and overawed to appreciate him fully. John said it was the nicest meal hes ever had. He ate crab cakes, some beef dish I didnt make a note of the name and a cheesecake. I had Caesar salad, halibut and crème brulee, the kids ate off the kids meal chicken noodle soup, mac and cheese (which Glen said was cold) and Ash had a hot dog followed by fruit cabob and ice cream sundae total cost was about $105, this was one receipt I didnt keep so can only roughly guess the total bill. To be honest we were not hungry after eating on the plane, in future I would not book anywhere to dine on the first night.
It was just past 9pm and I wondered if we would be able to see Illuminations for the very first time from the beach area of the hotel, so we went outside to be immediately hit by a very loud bang. We ran down to the little pier (surprising where you can summon a bit of energy up from when you want to) and this is what we saw.
We went to sit on the beach and relaxed for a bit while Ashley played in the sand and also had a quick look around SAB which is just beautiful all lit up at night before returning to our room and unpacking the cases which had all turned up safe and sound (one was covered in talc, at least I think it was talc - someones case must have exploded near ours ,it was white all over) laid out our clothes for an early start tomorrow, relaxed as best I could in the bath (wasnt quite long enough for a good lay down!) and finally put the lights out at 10.45pm. We kept going longer than I thought we would!
