Wendy (me) 46 but feels 21 in mind - Disney mad, the planner
John (DH) 46 - getting almost at Disney mad as me
Glen (DS) 14 - our lovely little boy one minute, stroppy teenager the next and mature young man occasionally
Ashley (DS) 11 - the loud one! A lot of this holiday has been based around his needs with him being very special.
Saturday 27th October 2007 going home day!
Woke up to find the bill for room charges had been pushed under the door, already taken off my credit card even though I had the cash to pay. Should I go and ask for it to be altered or leave it - I opted to leave it, silly really as I now have hundreds of dollars sitting in my jewellery box waiting for our next visit and have to pay off this months credit card bill! We went down to get a cab to DTD to do Virgins check in - cost $11 with tip. Arrived at 7.45, I was told they opened at 8.00 but a sign said 8.30am, we queued, the staff arrived and about 8.10 they started the process. Parted with another $40 and sorted quickly. We walked through a deserted DTD to the bus stops (big mistake), we should have found another taxi as we waited an absolute age for a bus, by about 9.15 one still hadnt turned up for the YC so another bus driver got permission to take us (there were plenty of buses just hanging around with the drivers talking to each other so we were very grateful at least one driver was bothered about us). Nipped up to the lounge for a quick breakfast and the boys went in the pool till 11am. We made our way over to Epcot and the only thing we managed to do was O Canada before it was time to go to Rose and Crown for 12pm ADR. There was a very grumpy lady who made out because she had a booking for 12pm she should be in front of everybody else! There were about 20 bleepers all going off for 12pm and everybody clambering to be served! We were seated at a brilliant seat which people would fight over for the view of illuminations later the same day. Food and drinks ordered, Glen had Potato and leek soup, fish and chips, apple crumble, Ashley had celery and carrots, bangers and mash and an ice cream sundae, John had soup, ploughmans salad and toffee pudding, all well and good. I started with the soup and waited and waited for my main course. The others had finished before the waitress came and asked if everything was OK, I pointed out my main course hadnt arrived - 20 minutes later still nothing! This went on for a ridiculously long time, people who had arrived with us were leaving. My shepherds pie eventually came with the manager who offered to pay for the meal (not much use when it was our last meal and it was on the DP anyway, so we couldnt save the credit for another meal). Sweet was gulped down as it was now 1.45pm. The waitress came to apologise again and asked if there was anything she could get us to make up for the trouble we had had, we said no just leave it, she suggested a guiness torte to take to the airport in case we were hungry - WHAT! As we just wanted the bill and not a discussion we said OK, when the bill came we had been charge $23.96 for the apology! The whole bill came to $156.51 and although the food was nice the service was dreadful, I read someone elses report who felt they were back in England with bad service in R&C, I have to agree, its somewhere I will not consider returning to.
We were very angry that our last morning had been wasted with one thing and another. We had to be back at the YC for 2.15 to catch the DME bus to the airport. It turned up on time, called in at BC where Art was seeing people off.
Got to MCO, where to add insult to injury there were smaller queues at check in than at DTD check in! Went and had a coffee and a quick look in the Croc shop and it was time to go to departures.
We flew back on Pretty Woman, not such a nice plane or staff as the outbound journey. We had a bit of turbulence and we were told not to get out of our seats, but no-one took any notice they were all up and going to the loo, Im afraid to say we had to break the rules and let Ashley go as he was bursting! The turbulence wasnt bad at all we were not being thrown up and down, just a bit of bumping, it wasnt even enough to spill drinks, John was under the impression it was so the staff could go and have a sit down - he said it, not me!!!!! Landed 1 hour early at 5.27am, picked up the car from the Radisson and home by 7.50am just as my father in law was walking up the street to feed our cat.
Overall I think you could say this holiday has been the best weve ever had and possibly likely to be the best well ever have but weve started saving for a second visit probably in 2009 but unfortunately it wont be a deluxe property - that will have to wait a few more years for the next celebration. It could be our 30th Wedding Anniversary, Glens 18th or my 50th eeeek!!!
