Wendy (me) 46 but feels 21 in mind - Disney mad, the planner
John (DH) 46 - getting almost at Disney mad as me
Glen (DS) 14 - our lovely little boy one minute, stroppy teenager the next and mature young man occasionally
Ashley (DS) 11 - the loud one! A lot of this holiday has been based around his needs with him being very special.
Monday 22nd October 2007
According to todays forecast it was going to be 88 degrees.
We let the kids sleep late while we ate breakfast on the balcony. We made our way to the pool for its 10am opening. Had a refreshing hour in their before changing to go to AK. Our first visit to AK was very sunny and very hot and today was exactly the same! We went straight to the Lion King Show where we sat in the Elephant section, but we were sitting right next to Simba!
When we came out we found Camp Mickey and Minnie, queued up for a picture with Mickey but just as we got near the front the CM said in a couple of minutes he was going off for a rest and he would be gone a while due to the heat, I said we didnt want an autograph just a quick photo so we were the last to be seen before his disappeared. We didnt queue up for the other characters as we had plenty of photos of them. We nipped into Pizzafari for pepperoni and cheese pizzas and frozen lemonade which we thought was refreshing but horrible!
Called in some shops before finding a spot in the shade for the parade.
Left the park with loads of others and caught the bus to the Contemporary for dinner at Chef Mickeys. We arrived very early so had a look around, sorry to the Contemporary fans but I didnt like the look of the place. We sat in one of the public areas looking over the lake till it was time to check in, we were given a pager which went off after about 10 minutes.
I was a bit disappointed to be seated right at the back of the restaurant and what can only be described as an unattractive closed in area (I should have been patient) anyway our server explained that ours was the first table to be visited when the characters came out. There was an excellent choice of food and when the characters came around an excellent interaction. The boys were getting into the spirit of things now and waved their napkins at the right time!
And the reason I should have been patient was revealed, the blinds went up for us to see a lovely sunset. Cost of the meal $149.35/4 table service credits.
Minnie was waiting outside the restaurant, and she was so tiny!
Made our way by monorail to MK passing through the Poly and GF. We caught the train to the back of the park to have a look around the bits we had missed previously, then it was time to find our Wishes spot. Unfortunately we had misjudged the direction of them and a lot of the fireworks were hidden by a tree! Went on the speedway track where John and Ashley rode in front of Glen and myself. The boys were driving and Glen wanted to go faster but poor old Ash was really slow. When we got out John said he had his pedal to the metal but it just wasnt moving very fast! We called in at Monsters Inc. laughter show and spent the whole time worrying wed be picked on! We left the park about 10.45 and the boys wanted to play on their PSPs so John and I went down to the Crew Cup lounge to try another cocktail. Sunken Treasure (very, very nice) and Mango Marguerita (not so nice).
