My husband and I are planning our first alone trip in 5 years to celebrate our anniversary. We're WDW vets, but have never been to DL. We're BIG planners when it comes to our WDW trips, and I know practically nothing about DL. We'd never dream of staying offsite at WDW, but since there are hotels within walking distance of DL, does it really kill the magic that much? We will be going 4 nights, and we're not worried about MM. Actually, we just want a fairly laid back trip, no demanding expectations, just to experience DL and have some quality adult time. (Only Disney geeks would consider that "quality adult time" could be had at WDW or DL!)
We're going to WDW with the kids in Oct, so we'd rather be a little frugal about our March/April trip if we can. Now when we win the lottery, of course we'll be staying at a resort hotel, but until that happens
, here's the magic question:
What in your opinion is the best hotel/motel within walking distance?
Any other helpful tips for DL noobs going kid-free would also be appreciated!
Thanks!

We consider it a very relaxing and fun vacation. We love not having to ride something just because our kids want to (Roger Rabbit -
).
