Keys to the Kingdom - 1/10

We woke up bright and early (again) to a very chilly morning. My throat was still sore, but I didn't feel half as bad as the previous night. We grabbed a quick breakfast at Boatwright's and tried the smoothies - yum:D We got to MK early, and had time to shiver and wait after checking in for our tour. Our guide's name was Lauren and she was very nice. We mostly enjoyed the tour, although I think the Backstage Safari tour and Paul had spoiled us. We got to go on the Jungle Cruise with Lauren as our skipper, had lunch at Columbia Harbor House, were told the stories about Liberty Square and the HM, and went into the utilidors. The tour seemed to drag a bit at the end. We had a fairly large group and a few people kept asking similar questions over and over. Lauren was very patient with everyone however. We were glad when the tour had come to an end...

We walked over to the Contemporary, hoping against hope that we'd be able to parasail. We made it there just before they closed the marina, so we were able to talk to the person working at Sammy Duvall's and reschedule for the next day. Too cold and windy today, so we were partially glad to reschedule. We found out that if it's below 50 they close the marinas.

We decided to head to MGM and ride TOT and RNR again. We had a great bus driver on the way over. He was talking to a 4-year-old boy whose father was in the Marathon. Kept us entertained the whole way over, very cute! As soon as we entered the park I made a bee-line for the first stand and got DH an autograph book. He'd wanted one, then decided not to get one, but I *knew*he was reconsidering. What a romantic anniversary present, right? We grabbed a fast pass for TOT and went to see how long the wait was for RNR. And then I again realized that I am FP inept when it comes to these rides. You have to wait on TOT anyway, so get RNR FPs first!!!!! Oh well, maybe next year I'll remember:rolleyes: So we decided to check out a few of the stores and try to warm up. Did I mention it was cold that day? ;) Then DH decides he wants hot chocolate and I decide to get a milkshake. Okay, stupid idea, but ice cream just sounded good! Then we froze some more, rode TOT, and went back to MK.

We hadn't run into any characters at MGM since it was around parade time and we were hiding in the shops. We were delighted to find about 10 characters in front of the train station at MK - on the entrance side of the train station. And hardly anyone was there!! So we lined up for our first autograph with Meeko, one of my favorites. I told him he was my favorite, and he took my arm and began escorting me into the park:D I politely asked for his autograph for DH and was amused to see him flip to the front of the book for a name - he signed the autograph "to John, but I like HER" lol:D We got most of our autographs here in fact, no lines, the characters were energetic, it was great. We wished we had bought a book sooner.

We braved the cold with our layers and gloves, rode the rides, and stayed for Wishes. Then we left for our PS at CA Grill. Great meal, but a long wait to be seated (it was Sat. night though), and a rude server. We were seated in the wine room, next to the window, and could see Illuminations. It was *cold* in there, but pretty. While waiting for the bus to DD there were 2 men, both smoking cigars. As soon as the bus pulled up, guess what? both jumped through the back door, cigars in hand. I said something to the bus driver about being allowed to smoke. He said no, and made an announcement that no smoking was allowed on the bus. That had a tremendous impact:rolleyes: Stupid people! Nothing like stinking up the whole bus... The bus driver was nice though and he was telling us about the Marathon. I thought it was funny that we heard a few people who were running talking about going to PI - by now it was after 10:30 and they were just getting started, I couldn't imagine running a marathon on that little sleep! More power to 'em if they could though!

We headed back to POR, feeling sorry for ourselves since we had only 1 day left:( Also feeling bad for the runners that had to wake up so early in the cold!!!!!!!! We were also glad *we* wouldn't be running - after all the food we were surprised we could even waddle to and from places let alone run!

Great report ~ Thanx for sharing.

A fun day for all - and I can't imagine attempting to run a marathon with sleep or staying up late - thanks for posting!
