MGM day - 1/8

DH was excited this morning - another character breakfast:D this time Chef Mickey's. We had no problem hopping on a bus to MK, and the bus we were on continued to the Contemporary! Okay, not that it's *that* far of a walk/monorail ride from MK, but we were excited;)

We arrived slightly early for our PS, but they had our picture taken and we were immediately seated. We hated the picture scam, by-the-way. It is a nice idea, but I think they should let you view the pictures, the way they do in the parks. Anyway, we loved Chef Mickey's:D It wasn't crowded, we saw tons of characters (Chip, Dale, Mickey, Minnie, Pluto) and they had lots of time to spend with everyone. The food was good, we liked the atmosphere, everything was good. Except the little terror at the table next to us... She was an only child (no offense meant, I'm an only child too) and put the "spoiled" in spoiled brat. Mickey signed her autograph book, she told him he did it wrong. He signed again. Then she told him he must close her pen. Okay, he did that to her approval. Then he had to put her pen back in the autograph book. 3 times she had him do this. He put his hand to his head and his "helper" showed up to escort him away for the napkin dance. DH and I silently thanked her, poor Mickey:( During this entire exchange her parents didn't say one word to her, they just smiled and took pictures and told her how adorable she was. DH and I resolved to re-think our decision of waiting several years for kids and wait several decades;) and stayed about 10 feet apart once we returned to our room at night (j/k). Seriously, if couples are considering kids they should go to Disney first. Then you'll know if you're ready... Cute, angelic looking kids turn into howling monsters in an instant - gives you the complete picture. Whenever we'd see this, we'd say "observe" to each other and "observe" very closely. We know we want a little angelic monster, just not yet - lol!!!

So after our fun at Chef Mickey's we headed outside to wait for the MGM bus. Is it us or does it take longer to catch a bus from the Deluxe resorts than POR? It was a bit chilly too, so it probably seemed longer than it was... After arriving at MGM we headed for ToT and RnR. I learned that next time we will get fast passes for RnR *first*, since the ToT fast pass only gets you to the door, after that you wait anyway. Of course, this took me the entire trip to sink in - you just see the ToT first, we like that better, and kick ourselves after forgetting, yet again, that FP doesn't matter that much here. At least not in January when it's kind of slow. So while waiting for our FP time, we headed to Magic of Dis An. which we liked *much* less than the previous version:mad: I then convinced DH to wait for Voyage of the Little Mermaid which had been in rehab last year. Apparently they only do FP for this on certain days, so we had to wait regardless. It was in this line that I realized that on our times guide it never actually said that WWTBAM was closed, but it didn't have any times for it either. I knew they were filming that weekend, but I had hoped it would be open. Pretty tricky, you walk into the park to the big sign about Back Lot being closed, but nothing for this... Oh well, more time for us... We got to Muppet Vision 3-D walking right on, almost the same with Star Tours.

We had a late lunch at Sci-Fi. This was our first time here, and we stuck to others' advice ordering burgers and shakes. Good advice:D We enjoyed our meal, o-ding on ice cream and decided we'd try watermice on for size. So we hopped on the Friendship boat to the Yacht Club. The marina was convieniently by the boat dock, so it took about 2 minutes to get 2 watermice. We had a good time going towards MGM and back again. We were out for about 45 minutes. DH managed to get himself stuck for a few minutes, but no harm done. We were looking forward to trying them again at the GF or WL, but no luck, the marinas are closed if it's below 50, and it was cool the rest of our stay:( We were glad of the Gold Plan here - $60 for the boats. We didn't feel that it was *that* fun, but since it was included it was worth the time spent.

We headed back to MGM, and waited in line forever at the GMR. I think it was broken down for a little while or something. By the time we were done, it was time to grab a spot at Fantasmic. It was chilly, so while we enjoyed the show, we were ready to go when it was over. Or more accurately move like a herd of cattle out the door:rolleyes:

We had a late dinner at Yachtsman, so we killed some time wandering around the Yacht Club. DH got a kick out of the fact that they had real hand towels in the bathrooms - lol. We really enjoyed our dinner at Yachtsman. Our server was very friendly and teased us because we got the same of everything except our appetizer. We had surf and turf - we weren't quite sick of it yet;) and creme brulee for dessert (yum:D ).

We then had the pleasure of learning how the bus system works at the Epcot resorts:mad: 5 resorts later we arrived at DD and I decided that I had better do some shopping while I had a little energy. Every night we were getting more and more tired - I have no idea why, do you? So I found some kits at the scrapbook store (2 were actually 50% off can you believe it?!) and stocked up on antenna toppers for myself and my parents and some Christmas ornaments. That was it - we didn't buy any more souveniers on our trip:eek: So if you don't want to spend extra $, just run yourselves into the ground, you'll be too tired to shop;)

And then we staggered back to our room for some much needed sleep...

I am a lover of Fantasmic too......and hate to be cold and sitting on cold benches......thanks again for the trip report
