Anniversary dinner...Chefs de France or CA Grill?

Hi!

I was checking out the menus on Deb's site. Everyone raves about California Grill and that's where I thought dh and I would go to celebrate our 15th anniversary, but after reading the menu, I'm not so sure. It seems awfully "foo-fooy" (lol) to me. Chefs de France's menu looks very good and so does Coral Reef's. What do you think? This is a once-every-five-year-type trip to WDW for our family and I want it to be great...especially this anniversary dinner (sans kids.)

Thanks,

We really enjoyed Chefs de France. We've also eaten at nicer places like Narcoosee's, Victoria and Albert's, Flying Fish, LeCellier, Hollywood Brown Derby. I would highly recommend LeCellier and Chefs de France and the Brown Derby. Flying Fish was ok, Victoria and Albert's was good, but is so formal. Spoodles and Hollywood Brown Derby were excellent. We really wanted to have dinner at the Wilderness Lodge for our anniversary, but ended up at Spoodles due to some timing issues with our son. Lastly, for a big change of pace we really enjoyed Wolfgang Puck's Dining Room right after seeing Cirque du Soleil La Nouba. Have a great time!.

Oh, I forgot... we took our toddler son to Flying Fish, Spoodles, Narcoosee's and to LeCellier (for lunch). Spoodles was a great place to take our son. We also loved the food and our view from Narcoosee's. I think Hollywood Brown Derby would be great for kids as well. There were kids there the night we went for the Fantasmic dinner package.

If you're choosing between those two I would choose California Grill unless you didn't see anything you like. You know you can order any combination of things at CG...i.e. a first course, flatbread and dessert. Or whatever! We enjoy Chefs de France again these days but while it is a pretty restaurant to me it doesn't feel as special as CG.

I'd pick the California Grill. We've eaten there more than once and have taken our kids. It's not snooty at all and the view is incredible! DH and DS love the sushi and DD loves the "kid's sushi".

I have more California Grill photos HERE.

I'll be honest with you- I haven't eaten at either! However, we stayed at the Contemporary last time, and my hubby and I walked up to the California Grill to see the view (I had poo-pooed eating there because of the menu too) and it is INCREDIBLE. I kept trying to figure out when we could fit a dinner in, and unfortunately, we were unable to. I would go in a heartbeat though- I have heard the pork tenderloin is very good and that's not quite as "out there" as some of the seafood dishes came across as...

Wow, cool pictures, Laura! Thanks for posting them. It is an incredible view. It'll be a tough call. :)

Blessings,
