Anniversary At AKL

Hi all,

First let me start by saying the information I have found here has been invaluable! I thank everyone for taking the time to post on these boards!

Now that the formalities are out of the way, I am taking my Wife to AKL Feb 9th - 13th to celebrate our Anniversary (1st trip alone since the birth of our twins - YEAH!). We are staying in a Concierge level room for the first time.

My question is this, will they do something spactactular for our anniversary / Valentines day? We celebrate both on the 11th. Also, would it help for me to slip the Congierge CM $50 when I arrive - before making the request?

I am hoping they could do something really nice (flowers, balloons, decorations, etc...) for when we come back from our day at the parks.

Any finally...any tips how things I should request from my trip planner or the concierge? I already scheduled the Sunrise Safari.

Congratulations on your anniversary! You couldn't have picked a better resort. We didn't stay on the concierge level so I can't help with that, however, the people at AKL are some of the nicest in all of Disney. Don't miss a romantic dinner at Jiko- the food is superb - one of the top three restaurants at Disney and they have a great selection of wines. Sitting outside around the fire looking out at Arusha rock is not to be missed. February can be a little chilly so don't forget something warm for the evenings. Another thing you might do for your anniversary is go to the spa at GF for massages and then tea. have a wonderful time

I took my wife and DD's (1&5) to AKL for 4 nights in September 2002 and had a wonderful time. I made sure that they knew of our Anniversary and my DD 1st b-day during our stay and we received items in our room from the gift shop, messages on our phone and character pictures wishing us the best. I did not tip extra for this prior to the service.

AKL is awesome. We spent the 2nd half of our trip at BWI (7 nights) concierge and it was OK but not nearly as good as AKL concierge. Our favorite remains GF but AKL is a close second.

We will be at AKL conc the same time as you and your wife - 2/9-2/16. Celebrating a very delayed honeymoon (3 years delayed by health issues). I asked Jill at Conc for ideas for Valentine's day. She suggested the Romantic in-room dining package. You can check out the menu, but basically it is a salad, entree, desert made for sharing and wine that will be set up on your balcony (or inside if it is cold) for you to enjoy. We are doing this on the 14th. There is a Disney florist, so you could certainly arrange for flowers, balloons, etc. with no problem. I'm sure a conc CM would arrange them in your room for you while you are at the parks. Email concierge and see if they have any ideas for you. THey have been very helpful to me.

We'll be staying at AKL 2-7 to 2-11 for our 3rd anniversary. I am hoping they do something special as well.

Jill at AKL is wonderful - she was always asking what she could do for us... and if we were having a good tme, she seemed genuinely interested in our holiday.

Also Don.. from the IPO at AKL... he was able to get us PS's for cinderella's breakfast. What a guy.

I wouldn't hope for 'spectacular' ( because that sets you up for disappointment) but I would certainly think they would do something special for you... congratualtions by the way.

I would suggest a nice meal at Jiko and the hot tubs are open late =)
