Annenberg Foundation, Obama & Ayers

But Obama has a documented relationship, one you just documented, that he called "well he lived in my neighborhood" trying to dismiss it, but that isn't a lie? Where is the faux outrage for that?
Read what he actually said:

OBAMA: George, but this is an example of what I'm talking about. This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago who I know and who I have not received some official endorsement from. He's not somebody who I exchange ideas from on a regular basis.

And the notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts 40 years ago, when I was 8 years old, somehow reflects on me and my values doesn't make much sense, George.

The fact is that I'm also friendly with Tom Coburn, one of the most conservative Republicans in the United States Senate, who, during his campaign, once said that it might be appropriate to apply the death penalty to those who carried out abortions.

Do I need to apologize for Mr. Coburn's statements? Because I certainly don't agree with those, either.

So this kind of game in which anybody who I know, regardless of how flimsy the relationship is, that somehow their ideas could be attributed to me, I think the American people are smarter than that. They're not going to suggest somehow that that is reflective of my views, because it obviously isn't....
Where is the "lie" in that?

We've been told that Bush lied by omission.

Obama omitted quite a bit about his connection to Ayers in that response.

His response was a meant to deflect any further criticism.

And the "8 years old" bit is meaningless because no one thinks that an 8 year old Obama was hanging out with Ayers at that time. But his connection to Ayers goes back about 20 years. Hmm... very similar to his connection to Rev. Wright.

What people have a problem with Ayers/Obama connection because he displayed piss poor judgment kicking his campaign off (for state senate) at the home of an unrepentant terrorist.

Ayers is a radical (self admitted). Radical people tend to have radical ideas. Radical can be good or bad. In the case of the effort to end the war in Vietnam, that's bad. His radical ideas on education reform are disturbing to many because of his comments and beliefs about America. He has also learned that brute force isn't always the best way to institute change. He's learned that molding the minds of young impressionable students can be quite a bit more effective (and less dangerous. No bombs required). He's also a teacher of teachers.

His track record for picking people who would become influential in his life are disturbing to many.

This Ayers connection is so "nothing".

Republicans served on the Annenberg commission.
High-profile Chicagoans served on this commission.
Ayers was awarded Citizen of the Year in Chicago.

To imply board meetings = close relationship is ridiculous.

When you hear people yelling out "Kill him" in your rallys, it's your responsibiity to end it then and there. What kind of leader are you if you can't speak up for what's right in your own campaign rallys??

”

We'll just have to agree to disagree over how he should handle it.

Honestly, this should disturb everyone.

Who's next? Charles Manson?

Tell me, honestly, would you launch a political career in someones living room you didn't have a connection with? Would you just walk down the street and say "gee, that house looks like it would be good"? And he was just another neighbor? How is that not a lie?

How do you know Obama launched his political career in Ayers' living room? That sounds dubious.

Well in my experience as a "coffee" host and as an attendee, was that a friend contacted me about a candidate running for office. They asked me to host a coffee where people in my building could come meet the man.

This is what happens when there is no name recognition in smaller races. When I hosted 20 friends for a candidate, I never thought it meant I was joined at the hip with this guy.

Just a meet and greet. Trust me there is nothing nefarious about it.

Im glad you have so much blind faith. But if I was inviting people over to my house to meet someone, especially in a political event, Id make sure I knew about this person before recommending him. And TO ME, hosting a politician would mean a belief in him and vice-a-versa.

I have noticed that. Any thread that has facts and documented information in it dies a quick death but those threads that are full of editorial opinions are bumped up with more of the same.

So did you two decide to team up and you'd offer your boring facts that nobody would bother reading, and then she'd throw in the race card to get everyone's attention?? Nicely played.:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

I apologize for taking the thread off-course.

I don't believe you.

Who's next? Charles Manson?

Why not? Bernadine Dohrn, Bill Ayer's wife, who lives in the home that Obama kicked off his political career in, said, of the Tate murders;

"Dig it! First they killed those pigs and then they put a fork in their bellies. Wild!"

I guess, she, like the "gentleman" Bill Ayers, is also "rehabilitated".

Of course that's not what happened. Ayers was an active Democrat and some other active Democratic supporter of Obama (whether Alice Palmer or whomever) got Ayers to host the event. By all descriptions what happened at the event is that Alice Palmer, the incumbent, introduced Obama as her chosen successor for her state senate seat (because she was running for the Dem nomination for Congress). Also the NYT story said this was one of several such coffees in the neighborhood. This is how somebody enters major party politics--you work to get the party network to meet you and get behind you. This is all so ordinary.

IIRC, they said the same type of BS about Sen Kerry's war record and wife. Facts just get you nowhere. The lies that eminate from Republican political operatives like Atwater, Rove, Tompkins, Rhodes and Eskew say all that needs to be said about their motives and ethics.

Well one thing is obvious, many Repubs find facts to be boring since they don't seem to use them very often.

And I am sorry to say but it appears that you have jumped to an incorrect conclusion regarding Jodi and myself. I don't know her in any way, shape or form. No teaming up on my side. I have never spent any time in Southern Fla. I happen to reside in the Northeast. While I do happen to understand where she was coming from with her comments, I NEVER said anything about the "race card". I don't happen to believe in races in any aspect although I do know that racism exists. In my view, anyone that believes that there is a scientific or any other measurable difference between people based upon the amount of melanin in their skin is a racist.

That is a fact that isnt disputed. Ayers hosted a kind of coming out party for Obama
Nobody is disputing it because it sounds like such nonsense, nobody wants to waste their energy. Most of us assume it's a crock.

It is never ordinary when you enter politics with a main support of your party network being a known terrorist.

No need to apologize. You're the one who thinks a thread will die quickly if just facts are presented. I like the way you try to take things so literally. :teeth: Continue with your assumptions.:rotfl:
