Annabella Inn?? Jump on it or run past it? :confused3 keep in mind that when I'm a walker, Im also a complainer... (My husband will thank you for being brutally honest about the walk. He's the pack mule.)

have you seen this map? It doesn't have distances, but it has a visual of the walk.

I haven't been there, but I've heard good things about it here.

My sister stayed there earlier in July. The few complaints that they had were the cost of everything from parking-internet. She said that the walk to Downtown Disney was about 7-10 minutes then about 5-10 minutes to the actual gates of DL. Hope that helps.

Well that sounds closer than DLH, where we stayed last time. We LOVED our hotel room and all, but the walk was a killer for me at the end of a busy day/night. It seemed REALLY far.

I must say it didn't look that close to me when we drove by but you do go the back way to get in through DTD. We stayed at the Ramada Maingate and we were in the park in no kidding 10 minutes. 7 minutes to security then 2 to the gates. The hotel was okay the pool was great for all ages and the location was wonderful.

To get to the parks, you need to cut through the GC. It is not close. For close, you want to be on Harbor across the crosswalk. Another option is Candy Cane Inn. We had a really nice room with free breakfast and they have a free air-conditioned bus that runs back and forth for people who stay there. It leaves every 1/2 hour for the round trip.

The DLH is closer, so if you didn't like that walk, don't pick the Annabella.

I didn't have a great experience at the Annabella, and I won't stay there again. They seemed to cater a lot more to the business travelers and seemed to look down upon families. Whenever we went to the desk, they seemed so polite and friendly with the business travelers, but not with families. We had reserved 2 rooms that were each supposed to have 2 queen beds. When we got there, the rooms had one queen and a twin in a seperate small area. This doesn't work when you are trying to sleep 4 in a room and the staff didn't seem to care. There are a lot of other options that are closer, more friendly, and likely cheaper.

The DLH is definitely closer than the Annabella.

To get to the parks from the Annabella, you'd want to walk past the Paradise Pier hotel, and then cut through the Grand Californian and on into DTD.

Or, you could walk behind the Paradise Pier hotel to DTD (heading towards ESPN) and then take the monorail into DL.

Either way, it's quite a walk for tired feet.

Of course when we stayed at the DLH, the monorail was running, so we just took the monorail in and out of DL. The walk from our tower (Marina) to the monorail station was only about 2 minutes, so it was great and very convenient. Our feet were very happy about this.:goodvibes

When we stayed there it was about a 12 min walk from my room to the security check point in the GCH. This was with a five-year old.

The hotel was OK, but I would probably choose to stay elsewhere on Harbour if I were to go back to DL.

I can only tell what are experience was and it was terrible. No other way to describe it but horrible, terrible. A group of us, all adults, went and got 4 rooms and the staff was completely rude to us. Even hung up on my brother when he tried to get maintenance to come in and fix the air conditioner (they even accused him of breaking it!).

It is a BIT of a hike to the parks. Not terribly far, but certainly not close.

We stayed at the Fairfield in earlier this year (just DH and I) and it was not only cheaper, but it was SOOOO much closer.

This about sums up my experience with them as well....funny how they don't seem to care about the air conditioners...it's the little things like that that make ANY hotel a better choice in my opinion. We even call it the AnnaCrappa.

I've never had issues with the Anabella. It is a bit of a walk, but not terrible by any means. I would stay here again.

Bumbershoot! Fabulous Map. Thanks for the link. I'm not sure if you posted it here before, but that is just a great map. I've never seen one so detailed as to what hotel is where.

Thanks!!!

Have a look at the Carousel Inn, Tropicanna, BWPPI or Park Vue Inn they are the closest hotels to DL. From there you have hotels like HoJos and Candy Cane which are about a 10-15 min walk, all have had good reviews here.

Is the Annabella a newer motel, or a re-make of the old Magic Carpet/Magic Lamp motels that we stayed at in the 80's on that site?

From what I've read, they took three existing older motels and combined them into one big one, so it's very likely that it was once the Magic Carpet/Magic Lamp.
