Friend of mine is taking his daughter to WDW first week November. He can't get a fast pass for Anna and Elsa. The week he is there there are early magic hours and Anna Elsa will be available. He is planning on getting there before rope drop and hoping the stand by wait is not that long maybe an hour. Has anyone tried this before. I appreciate any advice.

Have not done that but likely if he gets there at rope drop and heads right for the princess hall, standby will not be that long. Meanwhile, he should verify he cannot get an FP+. Possibly true but see if he has tried making FP+ for A&E separately for each person rather than seeking to make them for more than one person at time. We faced that lack of A&E times in May when trying to reserve for two or three people at once. Then I went on-line and tried to make FP+ for only one person at a time. Got three different times for three people that way and the times all had a 1/2 hour overlap so that all three could go at once.

Yes, if you are there at rope drop, you(the crowd) will be escorted down main street by cast members forming a human barrier, through the castle and around the carousel. Once there, you will be able to veer off to Anna and Elsa. I did this in July. Be sure to be on the right side when going around the carousel. Have fun!
