Animation Resort Rates

I expected it to cost the same as the other value resorts. For us, we just can not justify $500 more for AoA verses ASMu just because it is new.

But honestly, we were just looking at AoA because DS and youngest DD are obsessed with Cars. We ended up settling on POR for the moment because DH is still in the "keep the cost low" mindset but I'm slowly drawing him over to the monorail resort dark side and oldest DD is working him hard for a theme park view.

The same as the other values or the same as the Family suites at the Values? I can see expecting rates similar to the family suites at the values, but not the same rates as a regular value room.

The values are all at the same price point so why should AoA be any different just because it is new? The values are not like the deluxe resorts where the prices vary from resort to resort and room class to room class. So yes, I expected the same pricing because a value is a value. I honestly look for Disney to jack up the prices of all the values to that of AoA in the next year...thus putting them all at the same price point again.

Standard rooms at Pop and AoA will be $5 per night higher than the All Stars in 2012.

Um no..they are not the same price point
The Family Suite price at the Allstar Music resort is approx $245 per night at the regular season room rates
The regular room price( non suite) is $105 per night
So to expect that a suite is going to cost the same price as a regular non-suite room is not realistic.

But honestly, I think that Disney will end up jacking up the prices of the other values in 2013 to that of AoA thus putting all the values back at the same price point.

the prices are listed prior to booking anything.............it's a buisness, they can list whatever prices they choose...............book what is good for your family and don't waste time trying to think of scenerios that "could" work for your family if Disney would only listen.........

larger families pay more........more linens, more cleaning....eventually kids grow up and larger/another room is needed.......

For values season, a POR standard is $159. For 2 rooms, that would be $318, so much higher than a AoA family suite ($248). You really can't compare a single POR room to the family suite.

Exactly. We are comparing suites to individual rooms which is a huge difference. The price for the individual rooms at AoA are the same as the other value resorts and the other value resorts do have some family suites, so it is really the same thing as their other value resorts.

Yes, comparing a regular room to a family suite is not a fair comparison but comparing a value room/suite to another value room/suite is a fair comparison and the prices are not the same. The rooms are AoA are $45-65 a night higher than the prices of the other value resorts.

Where did you find that? Everything I have read said it was going to be the same price.

A suite at AsMu is 195.00 during value and at AoA the rate is around 260.00 during value season according to Disney. I just don't think Disney should consider that a "value."

Like I said, I wish they would have the option of a room that holds 5 but without the kitchenette and extra bath at a more reasonable cost.

So... the brand new, license branded, specifically designed Family Suites resort... should cost the exact same as an after-thought design, constructed from 2 standard rooms in Disney's poorest reviewed Resort(s)?

I personally don't think so :confused3

Disney's category listings (value, moderate, and deluxe) have always reflected Amentities/Service level... not price tag. Sure... they go hand-in-hand... Value resort = Value price tag... but I think AoA still reflects that.

$260 (RR) for a family of 6 to sleep in ONE room, with seperate dinning/living area, two bathrooms, kitchenette, and mega disney theming, is fairly "value" for on-property options.

The resorts going to offer nearly 1,120 actual suites... in addition to 864 standard rooms. Resorts run "smoothest" when occupency is fairly high... so I can't imagine the suites are going to be off-limits to discounts... those are staggering numbers to fill!

A 20% discount on $260/nt brings the price down to $208/nt about $15 more a night compared to ASmu's Family Suites current rates (and who typically don't see discounts due to availabilty/amount of suites.)

Disney has no desire to "pull" occupency from other resorts... and while they "know" people like us are scoffing at the released rates... their goal is to attract larger families, that typically stay off site, and who find the $260/nt easier to swallow then a 2-bedroom DVC villa.

I too am a tad bit disapointed to see just how high disney has set that Rack Rate bar... but until I've seen the resort, rooms, and offerings... I can't judge!

Just my opinion :rolleyes1

It is also my understanding the suites will have 3 separate sleeping areas. Which is different than ASMu.

I have not seen this any were ? Were did you read this?

from the WDW site:

Room Types
Disney's Art of Animation Resort features room types for almost every party size and preference—including standard rooms and family suites.

Spacious family suites are designed to comfortably accommodate up to 6 Guests and include:

2 separate bathrooms
A master bedroom
3 separate sleeping areas within the living space, which includes an Inovabed—a generously sized dining or work table that easily transforms into a comfortable bed.

All I wish for is that a Standard Room at AoA will not cost too much more than that at the other Value resorts. I'm resigned to the fact that it will cost more though. And I have a feeling after some time, others will too. Disney is in the business of making money. And they're darn good at it. We keep returning, don't we? That's proof right there.

I wouldn't mind paying $10 more a night for a standard room. Let's just hope Disney opens the Little Mermaid section so I can do just that! Pixie Dust!!pixiedust:

Value doesn't (always) mean cheap. Compare the cost of a suite at AoA with the cost of a suite at CSR or at a deluxe resort. Look at the amenities you're getting. A mini-kitchen. Doesn't POP charge guests who want a fridge?

Disney is able to charge a significant price premium. People who were expecting cheap rates at a new resort weren't being realistic.
