animation experience at Animal Kingdom?

Tell me what this is. The animation experience at Animal Kingdom. What ages is this for? How much time does it take? Have you enjoyed it?

A Disney animator teaches you how to draw a character. They give you a pencil, big piece of paper and a big clipboard to put the piece of paper on while you draw. My DD likes it, but she’s 20 & artistic. I go for her and we get a good laugh at my drawing attempts.

It is so much fun. I cannot draw at all and usually do a pretty good job at this. I would say it is best for middle school and up through adulthood but younger kids probably would enjoy it. You start with a basic template and an artist talks you through drawing a character from a Disney film and draws it as he or she goes with it projected on tv’s.

this sounds fun ! do you need a reservation, or do you just kind of get in line to get in ?

Wait in line for the class. They only have X amount of seats available per class. They do have a sample out front usually of who you are drawing. I have no art skills, but they break it down to pretty simple instructions. As someone that has no clue I am just following their lead of circle here, line there, etc... & suddenly at the end it all comes together to be something which is pretty cool!

As a sidenote you then have to carry your artwork all day so be ready for that. In the past I have used a plastic bag to lay the drawing flat inside & then rolled it around a water or Gatorade bottle & tied it with a hairband to put in my backpack. Not the best method but it made it home somewhat safe & I was able to hang it on my fridge.

It's fun, have done this twice and we usually have a couple of good laughs. The drawings actually turn out pretty decent. My DD is artistic, I am not. approximately about 30 mins or so for the class
