My family loved doing the animation academy at the parks previously. I know that the one in HS is closed, but is there anywhere else that you can participate in these activities?

It's worth noting that at DQ, if you want your drawing there is an additional cost. Kind of a bummer!

We went this past February and did it at Art of Animation. We weren't staying on site and they welcomed us to join. There was a group of about a dozen and we drew Stitch and Ariel. It was our first time doing it and it was a lot of fun.

Is it going to come back at Hollyood Studios?

The one at DisneyQuest was a live animator when we did it. However you do draw your pictures on a tabletop computer thing and do not get to keep them unless you buy them. I think we may try AOA this time!

Is the one at AOA an animator or video???

The one we did at AOA was an animator. The drawings were done on paper with a pencil (very wisely with no eraser...if there was an eraser we would never finish lol) and you got to take it with you. Everything was free. It was done at the end of the lobby in a corner area with some benches and a tv.

That sounds great! I can not wait until my trip to try this out :)

Have you gotten any more information on the Animation Academy at AOA (times, etc.) We want to do it as well, but are not staying there.

If you google arts of animation activities calendar you can find the times available :) we go June 20-28...def planning on trying it even though we are staying at CBR

I have talked to several of the former animators who have shifted positions. If you would like to see this come back in some way please drop Disney Guest Services an email and let them know how much you enjoyed it and would like to see it in a park again.

Based on everything I've seen, it seems they want kids to participate. Are two adults without kids going to be welcomed? Or is it more for the little ones?

I didn't get the impression that they specifically wanted kids to participate, I think they want anyone who is interested to participate. I think two adults would totally be welcomed.

I didn't realize they had this at Disney Quest, good to know!! (hoping they are still open for our upcoming trip).

This was my son's favorite activity on our last trip, we made Olaf and Chip (from Chip & Dale) and all of the drawings are hanging up framed in our guest room!

You can watch some video tutorials on Youtube. I've done this when I need a fix of Disney magic at home.... Type "Animation Academy" into Youtube and there are around 30 videos from Disney Parks.
