Does anyone know if there is a posted schedule online of the characters being drawn at the animation Academy? I'd like to plan our schedule a bit. But I'm having a tough time finding such a thing.

It's different every day. I suppose they could publish that schedule, but that's a change they'd have to update on the site every day as well. Not sure if that's high on the agenda :)

I believe it changes day to day. You can go into the Animation building and ask the CM at the podium outside the room what characters are going to be drawn.

You don't have to go inside either. There is a schedule of characters on display just outside the entrance to the Animation Building.

I THINK (but am not certain) that they always start the day with Mickey. I did see a picture of the schedule online...I'd just stop by early in the day and if you don't want to draw the next character, then either pick a later one, and/or take a photo of the sign so you can decide later without having to go back to the building to check again. :)

Yep, they always start and end the day with Mickey.

^ This. The first class starts at 9:00am. The schedule of the day is posted around 9:00am every morning on the left side of the entrance to the Animation Building. Characters taught were pretty much the same everyday while we were there a couple of weeks ago. The schedule changes daily. We took photos of the schedule everyday early in the day to see which characters we could fit into our day. If I remember correctly, They do each character twice everyday. We saw on the schedule Mickey, Minnie, Daisy, Donald, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Oswald, Jack Skellington, Phineas and Ferb, and Agent P. I might have missed a couple.

The schedule board seems to be a relatively new thing though, correct? I don't recall seeing it when I went back in June, but did see it on this trip (although I didn't make it to Animation Academy on either trip.)

The schedule was posted outside when I was there last Sunday, although I didn't attend any of the classes.

Also, I do not know how anyone can go inside the Animation Building and not sit there for hours. I watched the entire loop of movies from both sides of the building, then watched it one more time for good measure. I would have stayed even longer, but I had a lunch reservation at Carthay Circle :)

I don't think they do start with Mickey and end with Mickey every day. I know we did the AA one night and we did the last show and it was Oswald, I don't even remember seeing Mickey on the board for that day.

The board out front is new and we used it to plan our visits. It was great to know what to be back for. The schedule does change daily so there won't be any type of schedule other than what the board has listed, also be aware that classes do get cancelled. We had a class cancel on us once with only a few minutes notice.

I have to say that the Animation building was a pretty popular destination for getting out of the heat when I was there last week, thanks to the air conditioning and the couches in the central atrium (which also seem to be a recent addition, as I don't recall seeing them there on previous visits.) I don't recall seeing that many people there on any of my previous visits.

You guys are so clever :) The animation building will be closed during our visit, but the lecture and the drawing classes are supposed to be open (ntering through a side door, apparently?) and I want to make sure I have a chance to draw someone/something I actually like/care about. Last visit I had to draw Dopey, done of the dwarves, and for a non-Snow White fan I was kinda bummed. I made my Dopey look angry (made the animator laugh out loud).

:rotfl:

I only drew a character once myself, and it was Pooh (not one of my favorites, and a kind of tricky one to boot). Even if the schedule is not posted, you can always ask the CM who is next.

That is, if you don't have a terrible fear of asking people things, like I do. :flower3:

The teacher of our class mentioned that Mickey starts out each day. My DH asked, since if it were up to him, he would have spent all day there. We did it twice. Jack Skellington one day and Mickey the next.

So relieved to find this thread...I was afraid AA might have closed with all of the new Buena Vista St changes.

Well the CM may have said that but with my experience that was incorrect. As I said we did the last show (or class) of the day and we did Oswald, in fact we waited specifically for Oswald.

Oswald would be great! My son is a big fan...didn't realize they did him....I will have to check it out when we are there next month!

DD16 is a huge Oswald fan, she was so excited when she saw him on the schedule. We came back to take his class earlier in the evening but it was cancelled due to technical issues, the CM told us the projector wasn't working right so they were going to cancel the class. So we came back and took the final class of the evening to draw Oswald. She was thrilled and I have to say that we did a great job of drawing him, he was fun! :)
