Animation Academy and Animation building

Last time I was at DCA, I tried to find the room with the rose from Beauty and the Beast. The CM didn't know what I was talking about--any suggestions about how to find it. Once I get in that building, I get a bit overwhelmed and lost . Are there maps available? And, if I want to do the Animation Academy, is there a sign up for times or do I get in line. Also, any other ideas about interesting/fun things to do in there. I have done Turtle Talk and love the Toy Story Zoetrope.

The rose IS in the animation building. Once you're inside, go to the back wall and there is a ramp down to another room. This room has the zoetropes that you can draw. go THROUGH that room and you will get to the room with the Beauty and the Beast rose. It's really cool!

You don't have to sign up for the drawing classes. THey run all day and you can just get in line for the next class, which is every 30 minutes. They now have a list of all the characters they will be doing throughout the day so you can choose which one you like.

Just be sure you get there BEFORE the time for the character you want to draw. We thought because they were doing XX at 1:30 - 2:00, you could arrive at 1:45 and do it. That wasn't the case.

It's been a while but I believe you can make your own mini cartoon in one room also the Beauty and the Beast rose is where you can take a quiz to see which character you are most like...and lastly there is a room, ariel themed, where you can become a character voice over or sing over!! Lots of fun!! I always choose Bambi/Thumper/Flower scene If there isn't a line behind you do all the scenes!

As mentioned above, the areas are:
Sorcerers Workshop
-this is the first room after you head down the ramp against the wall opposite the main entrance.
-in this room, you can draw your own zoetrope strip or look at the premade ones. Make sure you check out the art on the walls... One wall is heroes, one is villains, one is magical helpers and one is mentors. Make sure you turn around and check out who is overseeing it all

At the far end of this room you go on to:
The Beast's Library
- in this room you can use the magical story books to find out which character you are most like
- watch the rose on the mantle- particularly after the lightning/thunder when the room darkens and it's in, uh, Beast mode (watch the painting over the mantle too)

After the Beast's Library, move on to:
Ursula's Grotto
- here you can do your own voice over of some great Disney scenes and songs.

All of these rooms are really fun- true hidden gems!

Wow! Thanks so much for all the great responses--there is even more to discover than I realized and now I have specific directions about how to get to the different areas!
