We are staying at AKL in July. With the heat and humidity I am guessing that we will not see very many animals out roaming around other than at feeding times. Has anyone stayed there last year during this time and found this to be true? Or will we see the same animals as usual because they have no where else to go and are always visible.

Trip one was in July, very hot and we were always seeing animals.
Trip two was in May, was hot for May maybe, but certainly not July. We saw them every day until......the last day there. Everyone was complaining because they couldn't find animals, it was like they had all gone on vacation :smooth:

We normally go in October so I can't directly answer your question. I can't imagine it being any hotter in Orlando than in their native land so I can't see not having them out. The animals at the lodge are kept out all night unlike the animals in the park that are put in at night. Putting the animals in during the summer would "untrain" them to be outside. Sounds kind of strange saying "wild" animals have to be trained to stay outside.

We're usually there in July or August (hot, hot hot!) and they were still out. They put the food, especially the giraffes on trees near the viewing areas and rooms, so they come out and eat. I think the only time they disappear is when the caretakers are checking on them.

Been In late July and early August. We saw plenty of animals and not just in the morning.

Thanks for the responses, I will let my DS8 know that he will get to see the animals. :flower:

I've been in May and in November - saw plenty of animals both times. It was rare that I would look out on the savannah and not see anything. However, they were definitely more in view in November. In May they were often back towards the more shaded areas.

:earsgirl: Stayed there July 4 week 2004, animals were out for viewing all the time. Loved the resort, you will not be disappointed.

Dude, the animals come from AFRICA! :rotfl:

According to Yahoo weather the avg. high temp in Nairobi ranges from 71 in the winter to 80 in the summer. Sounds a lot better than central Florida to me.

Cheers.

Too bad the animals don't live in the city or have the Internet! :flower:
