Animal Kingdom-What is this?

... do i really know thr answer to something that the DISers dont know???

This area is going to be an adult-only animal centered evening-only park called Night Kingdom. Its Disney's answer to Discovery Cove and is gonna be mad expensive.... like 250 per person!

See http: // jimhillmedia. com/ blogs/ jim_hill/archive/2008/02/15/night-kingdom-to-reimagine-the-disney-theme-park-going-experience. aspx"

(take the spaces out, my post count is too low to post links  )

That article says it supposed to be near PI, but somewhere else we read it is going to be right by AK since thats where all the animals already are.

The images on Google Maps/Earth can be several years old, and I'd say they are at least two years old. They haven't been working on Night Kingdom for that long without word getting out before now. And What Jim Hill says isn't exactly gospel.

It isn't very close to Everest, so its not likely a staging area for it, but it could have been.

The area is bordered by a canal and the Conservation Station support buildings to the north, a perimeter road to the east, the wildlife express train and a support road to the west, and the Kali River Rapid maintenance area and the upper limits to the Jungle Trek to the south.

The only guest ingress area would be though the Jungle Trek, which I don't think could serve as an entrance to another major sub-park.

I think the most likely use, other than as a pile of dirt for the near future, is another tree farm area like those to the north. I could be wrong, I'm just speculating though.

Can the area be seen during the rise portion of Everest? I think they cleverly turned that portion away from the area, but it would be more interesting to see how its changed in the past 2+ years.

Im POSITIVE thats what it is... but we are going on Friday and staying at AKL so I will ask around.
=)

Yahoo maps is more updated than Google. Current image on Yahoo shows EE finished, and the big open area is still there - but a little cleaned up and some vegetation growth returning.

Its obviously just a work/construction/staging area. Someday they may do something with it, but from the Yahoo map dated 2008 - it hasn't changed much and its definitely not a "planned" experience area.

Actually, I just looked and Google Earth is showing Everest as completed as well.

I also checked local.live.com, and it pretty much shows the same thing in the aerial view - that area has changed little in several years. The Birds Eye view is older.

Where do you think they kept all the track and wire cage construction for E:E's facade. . . . . . .
