With the availability of Fastpass+, do you think it is wise to get a Fastpass for the Safari in Animal Kingdom? I only ask because the last time we went (2 years ago), we had an early ADR at Tusker House and we were right outside the entrance at Rope Drop. We were able to get on the Safari with no wait at all. I guess it's different now? This year I was thinking of doing the same thing but not sure what do to about the Safari.

Thanks,
Maria

If your ADR is before park opening, like 8:00 or 8:10, you should be able to walk out of Tusker House and get on the safari with minimal wait. That is what we did our last trip. I wouldn't waste a FP+ unless you want to do the safari later in the day. We find the animals more active in the morning. However, if your ADR is for 9:00 I would do a FP+ for the safari because till you are done eating, the crowds will be coming in.

If you are at a Park at or near Rope Drop (or have early breakfast at Tusker House), then you might not need a FP+ for anything during the first hour or more.

With the possible exception of Belle in MK, Toy Story in HS, Soarin' & Test Track in EPCOT, having a 9am FP+ is considered a wasted FP by some bloggers.

If you can avoid using a FP+ that might otherwise be used for another attraction when lines are longer, then I would avoid using the FP+ first thing in the morning.

That being said, your needs, like mine, may vary. For instance, my child loves Flights of Wonder with first showing at 10:30am. Having an early Kilimanjaro FP+ gives me peace if mind that I can do a clockwise rotation from Kilimanjaro to Flights of Wonder to Everest to Kali Rapids to Nemo show.

In this instance, we use the FP+ early because we will be leaving AK on the early side of the day with no expectation of returning or utilizing FP+ in another Park. So I can either use a 'wasted' FP+ or not use a FP+. I choose using a 'wasted' FP+.

In other words, like many families traveling with small(ish) children, utilizing FP+ for the early hours you are most likely in the Parks makes the most sense. But if you can avoid this, utilizing FP+ at higher crowd periods in the afternoon would be the recommended use of a FP+.

We don't plan to stay in Animal Kingdom too long so I think I will use the Fastpass+. We will probably leave around lunch time. I know this was one of my daughter's favorite so I just want to make sure we get this ride in before we leave the park.

Thank you for the advise. They were both great.

Are you going to any other park that day where the FP might be of better use? If not, you might as well get the Safari FP+.
If you are planning to hop, though, I wouldn't waste the FP at that time of day.

Agree with this.

We are not going to any other parks that day. It's sort of our "free" day. We will be going during summer so I wanted to make sure it was an easy day and take a break during the afternoon. Then probably go to Downtown Disney later.
