We are headed to WDW in October for the first time and need some logisitcal booking advice for the grandmas.

Our room is booked at Animal Kingdom Jambo House. We booked through David's Vacation Club in the spring. When we made our reservation, our parents were unsure if they would be traveling with us. Now, our only option is going directly through WDW to book a Savannah View Studio. We would like to consider other options that may be less expensive since 2 rooms are needed. Would we find any disadavantages if we did not all stay at the same resort? If we split up between two resorts, what would be a good alternative?

Thanks!

Have you considered booking a regular room at AKL? Would it have to be a Savana view? You could book a standard or pool view room which is less expensive. Watch for fall/Oct. discounts.
If they have a car seperate resorts are doable, but using WDW transportation going from resort to resort isn't easy. And I'm thinking the grandmas will want to enjoy joining the grandkids in the pool, and other resort activities.
And IMO the regular rooms give you more room then DVC studio because you get 2 queen beds. I think DVC studio only has 1 real bed (queen) and a pull out sofa. So someone would be on the pull out with a studio.

just put in AKL (did not add the Jambo House) - they will NOT be on the same floor as you - but there are some the standard room is $358 per night.

when are you going? DVC rooms are probably gone because of the food/wine & MNSSHP --

If you decide to book a different resort, Coronado Spring and the All Stars would be the closest to AKL.

We stayed at a separate resort from my sister on one trip (we were at WL, she was at Pop) and it worked out just fine. We met up at the parks in the morning and spent most of our time together. The grandmas will be able to come to your resort with you and do everything except swim (and if they're like my parents, they'd be fine just to watch the grandkids swim). They might actually enjoy having some quiet time after the craziness of the parks. We don't see our family very often, so we enjoy spending time together, but we're okay with not spending every second together.

As mentioned CSR is the closest mod. 2 standard rooms there might be more affordable if they each must have their own room. But they do have 2 Queen beds in each room. I wouldn't stick my Grandma in a value resort if I was staying in a deluxe. Just sayin.

This resort is just a short taxi ride away from yours, so you could visit back and forth, or meet up before heading to a park.

We've done multigeneration, multi room trips before, and its kind of a godsend sometimes to have parts of the group at different resorts.
