What's the best way or place to stay undated about refurbishments? We are going to plan an early summer trip very soon.

Unfortunately DVC isn’t in the habit of pinning themselves down by announcing refurb dates. Sometimes they’ll post on the website on the resort page, or on the booking page, but we frequently don’t know much more than that they plan to start in “fall 20xx” and finish in “spring 20xy” or something equally vague.

The best you can do is to watch these pages. Some people here know how to check future availability and will post early warnings when they see rooms being blocked off in advance of the 11 month window. And there is a possibility that DVC will talk about refurb plans at the quarterly condo association meetings for each resort.

The quiet pools at Yacht & Beach Club will be available to BCV guests while Stormalong Bay is closed, and in fact there's a pool right in the BCV courtyard.

As far as the pool goes at Jambo, I don't think the room renovations will affect it. DVC villa refurbs aren't connected to Disney resort pool refurbs.

But, basically, the answer to your question is No, not that I'm aware of.

This is helpful, thanks. I didn't realize it was just room renovations, and not the pool. Also, my teens will really only spend a decent amount of time at a pool with good slides or activities ( lots of fun with volleyball at SAB), so that being out of commission is a no for us.

Hmm, I have a Kidani 1BDRM booked for 15 May - 18 May. Perhaps I will get a refurbed room if they are starting in Jan.

Jambo pool had a major renovation in 2018 and Kidani had one just a year or two ago. Neither should need one for many years, barring something unexpected

They do typically close every pool on property for a few days every couple years, so that’s always possible, but that is unlikely and rarely announced more than a few months in advance.

I’m super nervous about this referb. I really hope it’s similar to the hotel room referb they did a few years ago where they mostly maintained the character and theming. I’m worried they are going to give it the Hyatt treatment they have been doing with bland generic furnishings.

I really just want the theming touched up and carpet out of there, that would be a home run scenario imo. Again, will attempt to speak it into existence, dishwasher in studios! This resorts fits perfectly into their sustainability goals!

Since quarterly meetings are entirely new, I can’t even begin to guess!

Why do you need a dishwasher when they supply disposable cutlery and plates? Do you bring your own dishes? Where would they put the dishwasher - would they remove the mini fridge?

I don’t think any other DVC resort has dishwashers in the studios, likely because there’s no place to put them, & installing a dishwasher in every studio would increase the cost of the refurb. because every studio would have to be replumbed & rewired to install them + the extra cost to buy all those new appliances. My guess is we’ll lose the spa tubs, sleeper sofa & chair, & gain a Murphy bed pull down couch & tiny pull out single cot under the TV, although I’m not sure they could fit both the pull down couch & pull out TV bed into the Jambo 1/2 bedrooms since those living rooms are rather narrow.

Removal of spa tubs would break my heart. I completely understand not having Jacuzzi-style water jet tubs, because they are a bacteria magnet and a maintenance nightmare. But air bubble tubs are much easier to maintain, since forced air out means less water circulation in internal mechanism (or so I've been led to believe).

As someone with musculoskeletal issues, spa tubs are a lifesaver for me

I believe the previous poster mentioned it because the Poly Tower studios will have dishwashers. However, I agree that it would be too costly to add them to preexisting studios during a refurb. But who knows, could happen...

Ah, I’m not up on the Poly Tower. Personally, if they have spare cash from our MFs, I’d rather they retain the spa tubs or at least replace them w/ bubbler tubs to maintain the status quo, I really enjoy the spa tubs…when they work, although I know a lot of folks dislike the shower in tub w/ high ledge arrangement in Jambo.

I think the sofa beds are more comfortable to sit on, but no contest the murphy beds are better to sleep on.

I fear this will mean we'll lose the table and chairs like most other studio renovations, which will be sad.
