Animal Kingdom missing alot of animals?

There were not many animals out on the Safari ride in December when we last went to AK, but if might have been because it was really cold that morning (and most of the mornings we were there).so I hope that was the only reason. We did see elephants, giraffes, a pesky ostrich, etc, but no cats, I really like the big cats and was disappointed at not seeing them. We did enjoy the Safari, but would have really liked to see more. We saw more on the walking trails, except again the big cats, they were sleeping lazily on the top of the hill and coulnd't be seen very well from up there. We even saw an uninvited guest (mouse) that the CM told us not to look at "cause he didn't belong there". I say he was just Mickey's cousin coming in for a visit.

Maybe on our next trip we will wait until a little later in the day if it is cold outside.

There are Kangaroos at AK.

Where are they. We saw a kangaroo in one of the AK movies the other day my daughter had taped and both my husband and I looked at each other and said "I never saw a KANGROO!:confused3 "

They're in one of the habitats on Discovery Island near Pizzafari I believe.

Here is the pic of the Kangaroos. I just asked the CM where they were.

Is it just me or is Animal Kingdom missing alot of ummm...animals? The park is coming up to its 10 yr anniversary, yet they really don't have alot of new habitats or anything. Wheres the kangaroos, koalas, panda bears, goats, etc.? I understand that they try to theme the animals to fit in with a specific land, but we haven't really seen much in the way of new animals or habitats since the parks open. What animal would you like to see added?

I love AK, and I love all the animals they do have, but my one wish would be if they would add a Latin American section They could have the snow leopard, llamas, alpacas, vicunas, crocs, all kinds of exotic birds and insects, peccaries, sloths, snakes and other reptiles, monkeys, etc. They could have rides or attractions that could refer to the Andes Mountains, Iguazu Falls, volcanoes, the Amazon jungle/river, the Incas, the Mayans, etc. I doubt this would happen but you did ask what we would like to see added, and that's my wish.

All Giant Pandas belong to China, no matter where they are born. They would be under a similar lease agreement to that of their parents, or they would go back.

Very true. Here in Atlanta, there was a baby girl panda born last year (she's one year old this week as a matter of fact). The Chinense had first say in alot of her birth. Even with her name. There was a contest to name her but China had to approve each name that was nominated. She's Mei Lan which means "Beautiful Atlanta" - yes, there is a Chinese equivilent of Atlanta or at least something the Chinese agree with. You can go to ajc.com and see her last year in pictures.
