What are these animal kingdom meal certificates? How do they work?

If I buy an adult for $11.99 meal cert, does that mean I can get ANYTHING on the menu (in participating restaurants) using this cert? Does it include anything else like drink, desert?

How do they differ from Q&C?

You get the adult meal with drink plus a certificate for a drink and one for an ice cream or popcorn later in the day. We used them to get a burger meal and still came out ahead.

Yes you can get anything on the menu. You buy them from the cashier when you are ready to order and as Chell said they include a drink. The cashier will tear off the meal portion of the ticket and you will then have two more sections/tickets for a drink and a popcorn or ice cream. They are a great deal.

The Meal Plus Certificates (AK) are a great deal!!!!!!!!!!! I wished they had them in the other parks too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (we didn't find the Q&C to be as good of a deal for us)

You can buy them at the entrance of AK or at one of the restuarants. They a really are a good deal. The part I like is that you can get your dessert (ice cream or pop corn) when you want to and its also nice to have that other drink later in the day.

These wouldn't work at Breakfastasaurus would they?

Is there a link to more info on how they work?

Thanks!

I think I answered my own question. I found the following on www.allearsnet.com can anybody tell me if this info is still current?

Hi! Can you give me information about the Animal Kingdom dining vouchers - how much they cost, what restaurants can they be used at, what are they good for, etc. Thanks!!

Hi Chris!

The Animal Kingdom "Meal Plus" certificate allows you one counter service entree plus a beverage at any of the following Animal Kingdom counter service restaurants: Restaurantosaurus, Flame Tree Barbecue, Pizzafari, or Tusker House. There is also a coupon for a box of popcorn or an ice cream bar, and another coupon for a bottled drink. The cost is $11.99 plus tax for adults and $5.99 plus tax for kids. Kids' certificates can only be redeemed for kids' menu items, by the way. The certificates can be purchased at any Animal Kingdom counter service restaurant and also at Guest Relations in the park. The certificates were started as an experimental program last summer, and were extended through the fall and early winter. The program could be discontinued at any time, but if you can take advantage of it, it's a very good deal.

Have a great trip!

No sorry they dont work there. They work at Flame Tree, Tusker House and Pizzafari. When you buy them just ask for the meal plus cert. They will complete that transaction then you can order with them. At Flame Tree I had ribs with 2 sides and a drink $10.58 + tax then later I picked up my extra drink $2.50 and my ice cream $2.50. Paying Cash would have been around $16.00 but with the cert it was a little over $12.

At Tusker house I had 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken--came with 2 sides and I had a drink for a total of $9.99 plus tax then again my 2nd drink and ice cream later @ $2.50 each. Would have cost around $15.00 cash
It seems we generally save $3 or $4 per meal but with 6 of us thats a good savings for me :D

We just used them again in Dec when we were there.

I just recently learned about these certs & plan on using them on our trip this year. Does anyone know - are the certs dated?

Could we use the meal portion on a Monday, but save the ice cream coupon for Wednesday afternoon when we return to the park? We usually visit AK a couple of times each trip - just wondered if you needed to use all the coupons on the same trip. Thanks in advance! ::MickeyMo

They are supposed to be used the same day but I dont remember seeing a date on them.

Can you use the ice cream/popcorn or soda portion of the voucher before you use the meal part?

Yes you can! Thats one of the great things about these vouchers. It is perforated and you can use the meal part, ice cream/popcorn part or drink part any time, any way you want.
We usually eat, get an ice cream later and then get the drink on our way out my oldest has gotten his drink first a couple of times.

I have always purchased these at lunch time at the place a decided to eat and they keep the meal coupon. I then have the drink and snack coupon remaining.

I have read somewhere (DIS or Allears?) that the certs are available at Guest Relations and then you can use the coupons in whatever order you prefer. You may even be able to purchase at the counter service restaurant and just tell them you don't want to use the meal ticket yet.

These certs are also great if you eat lunch in the park, and then maybe want to take a box of popcorn or an extra water bottle back to your resort.

This is a great deal if you choose to take advantage of it. Animal Kingdom tends to be the "hottest" park, so having the option of a second bottled drink and an ice cream bar for later in the afternoon is great when the FL sub is blasting!!!
