Hello,

My parents just invited me to stay with them at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I've never stayed there before. I've stayed at the Polynesian (favorite), Contemporary & Caribean Beach. (sp?)
Does anyone know how long the drive is to the Magic Kingdom & Epcot Center? We will have a car, so we can take the car or bus system. We will be there from 4/1-4/6. I prefer the Polynesian because it's on the monorail system and it's easy to leave the parks for an afternoon break and then return early evenings. Any advice, suggestions or information is welcome!
Thank you!

It is about an 18 minute bus ride to MK. The AKL has busses that only serve that property, no sharing with any other resort. I did not find it difficult to go back and forth from the parks to the resort in the afternoon for a swim and a tall cold drink.

The ride to Epcot is about 12 to 15 minutes on the bus.

I would leave the car at the resort. By the time you get it from the lot, load up, got to the park, find a place to park, take the tram to the gate, it is faster to take the bus, and let someone else worry about the traffic, especially at the end of a hot day.

Traveling to the MK the Bus has the advantage because you go straight to the park entrance - where with a car you would have to go through the TTC/Monorail or Ferry etc.

Going to Epcot or the Studios you may find that using your car is more convenient. The buses do not take any longer to get there than a bus from the Polynesian would take - but if you're like me the bus I wanted is driving away as I walk up to the bus stop :-)

Make sure to wander about the AKL and talk to the CMs - there are multiple viewing areas into different 'savannahs' and there are different mixes of critters in each one. The CMs do a great job of describing what's out there. Also there are story-telling sessions each evening around an open fire outside.

The restaurants at AKL are first rate and the pool is excellent - Have Fun!

AKL is awesome! We used the busses and had no problems at all. Just walking in to the resort takes your breath away. The pool is very nice and does have a waterslide. Make sure you look around and find the hot tubs(they are kind of hiding). We had a savanah room and it was great waking up every morning and seeing all the animals eating and walking around. Somedays we could not wait to go back to the resort just to walk around. I think it is a definate can't miss it resort!

If you love the Poly, then you'll LOVE the AKL!
Lots of theming, good food, excellent service, and the MUSIC that surrounds the resort is fabulous!
As close to Africa you'll ever get!::yes::

Now, we love the monorail, too, but it's fun to try new resorts and the bus service for AKL was excellent!

Have fun!
