I see that there are so many prices and options. I am wondering what price range I would have to get into to be able to see the animals from our balcony? I also see that a water/pool room is more...does that mean if I get the cheaper one that we will not have access to the water and pool? I am confused and the site does not offer much info on the differences in the various priced rooms. Thanks for any help.

I believe AKL rooms are structured like this (cheapest to more expensive):

Standard View, Water/Pool View, Savannah View, Deluxe Water/Pool, Deluxe Savannah View, etc.

You would need a Savannah View room to be able to see animals from your balcony.

A Standard View room will give you a view of the parking lot; a Water/Pool View will give you a view of the pool.

You'll have access to the pool no matter what type room you book.

Thanks. My 9 year old wanted to stay in the room with the animals outside and I was thinking about booking it just for our extra night before we drive home, but that is a lot of money.

Even if you book a Standard View room there are many places around the resort where you can view animals from. A co-worker of mine recently returned from staying in a SV room and she loved the resort and was able to see the animals from various lookout points around the lodge. Also, you don't have to be a resort guest in order to have access to AKL; maybe you can take your daughter there for a day trip and have lunch or dinner there and check out the animals.
