I finally got a postcard!!! It is for the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Here is my question. I have reservations at Por-Riverside for the end of July. We stay there because there are 5 of us. Can 5 people stay at AKL or would I have to get 2 rooms?

I believe you have to get a "deluxe" room at AKL with 5 people, but someone else here will know for sure.

By the way, if you do have to get a deluxe room, I would check on the cost of upgrading to concierge, figuring in that you wouldn't have to pay for breakfast. Last year, the difference between deluxe rooms and concierge was not that much and more than worth it to upgrade. This year it seems that concierge at AKL has really gone up so the difference may not be worth it.

At AKL you would have to get a deluxe room for 5 people. It could be 1 qn, bunkbeds and daybed or 2 qns and daybed. The deluxe rooms are located on the fifth floor. I have heard great things about concierge at AKL. If you could skip breakfast and maybe have afternoon snacks there, you might be able to save enough in food costs to make it worthwhile. We did spend a lot more time at this resort than we have spent at resorts in the past, so we probably could have made good use of the concierge offerings.

There are codes for discount rates at certain times of the year. For the time you are going to be there you can use the code CGK,CEP, or CEW to get great rates at alot of resorts including AKL. If you are an AP holder use code FPZ. I just called CRO and added code FPZ to my reservation and got AKL savannah view deluxe room for $240 a night, normaly that room goes for over $400 a night.

Donrulz, are there codes for December? I'm going 12-7 to 12-14 staying in a deluxe savannah room. Would love to go concierge, but i believe it's an extra $80- or so per night. where do you get the codes??

CindyLouB--I was able to get an AP discount for AKL last Dec. 21-23, and I believe there might have been discount codes out then as well. I don't know about this December, it was unusual to be able to get those discounts in December last year.

I paid around $260/night, including tax for concierge with the AP discount.

The codes can be seen at www.mousesavers.com and they are good only till 8-24-02. But maybe they will have new ones for when you are going

You need a deluxe room to sleep five at AKL. We just got back last Wed., AKL is a beautiful resort! We loved it.

I received a great rate from a Disney e-mail (same as postcard). It was better than the rates I could get with the codes that were out for my timeframe.

I would give WDW at call and see what rate you can get. CRO offered me other resorts beside what was mentioned in the e-mail. Most of them were great deals. You might be pleasantly surprised.

I'm curious about this....I thought AKL was the same sized rooms as WL and I can't imagine putting a 5th person in that smallish room?? Are these bigger?

There are deluxe rooms at AKL that are larger. They are located on the fifth floor. These are the only rooms at AKL that will accomodate 5 people. You can see the room layouts at
