Is there any way you can request a certain room at AKL that gives you a better opportunity to see animals? If so, what areas are the best to ask for. My parents are going down February 9th and it would be really neat if they could possibly see some animals from their room. :jumping2:

They should request the Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail--plenty of animals, great view. The pool and restaurants are also on this side of the Lodge. The construction is on the other side.

I am assuming you have a savanna view room booked. If you do then you will see animals from your room. We have had rooms over looking each of the three savannas over the years and always had great experiances.

Aloha,

My family and I are currently spending four nights at the AKL concierge level (fourth floor). Our room is 4307 overlooking the Arusha Savanna. The view of animals is magnificent.

The feeding road in the Savanna makes a big W facing the Arusha Rock Savanna Overlook. At each of the loops of the W is a feeding spot. Room 4307 looks directly across the W from left to right thus you can witness the animals feeding at about five various spots at the same time. Earlier today we watched 17+ animals (two giraffes, four zebras, six ankole cattle, three kude, a pair of impala, etc...) feeding at once.

Based upon my personal experience I would recommend the block of rooms in the middle (third of five blocks of guest rooms). The pair of blocks next to the Arusha Rock Overlook are restricted to only the left or right side of the Arusha Savanna. The trees block the interior view of the outer blocks of guest rooms. The middle block of guest rooms enjoy a straight view of the Arusha Savanna straight across five feeding pits.

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I will take that advice for us too personally when we come to Disney next. My husband is an outdoorsman and saying that amount of animals would be awesome and incredible. Thanks so much.
