Animal Kingdom in the evening?

What are some things you can do at Animal Kingdom in the evening. We have a gap between 5:30ish & Rivers of Light which is at 9:15. We have the dining pkg seating so we'll line up around 8:30. Thank You!!

If you like Expedition Everest, it is probably my favorite attraction at WDW to ride after the sun goes down. If you want to ride the Safari toward sunset, the animals are a lot more active and might hear the lions roar. You can see Festival of the Lion King which is rated the most popular show on WDW property. There are some really great dance parties that happen in Africa and on Discovery Island. You can relax at Nomad Lounge and have some appetizers/drink. These are just to name a few. Animal Kingdom is my favorite theme park, and I enjoy doing everything I just listed. I saw Rivers of Light last week, and it is a great show!

The Awakening (I hope I remembered that correctly) is a projection show that lights up the front side of the tree of Life, beginning around dusk. I found it to be a wonderful addition to the park, with four or five different vignettes showing, one every few minutes or so. It's worth setting aside about 20-30 minutes and just hanging out to watch.

- Tree Awakening is beautiful, I think there are multiple projections.
- Enjoy the live music in Africa, they are great and folks are dancing ... right next to seats at a bar.
- Enjoy the carnival music over by Flame Tree ... again some seats around to sit and enjoy.
- Perfect timing to see Lion King or Nemo shows.
- Of course the rides EE, Dinosaur and even Safari are running. We did Safari at 6 pm.
- Nomad Lounge is awesome place to hang out
- See if there is walk up for Yak & Yeti for dessert if you have room.
Their sorbet is amazing but my favorite is the Fried Wontons.

We took the Safari ride at night and we saw more animals than during the day. I was surprised because I thought they would all be asleep after sundown. It was also pretty cool to be out there in the dark. The Dino Area would probably also be a good bet because it's like a carnival which is lit up at night.
