Animal Kingdom?! do we haave to?

here's what I would do...

go in the afternoon
Festival of the Lion King
see the parade
maybe do the safari
find some other stuff you'd be interested in trying if there's time

when the park closes, head over to AKL to check out the resort and have dinner at Boma.

Give it a try to check it out. I definitley think it is worth a try since your girlfriend has never been there. As stated before, you can always check out the main attractions and then go to another park.
Good luck and have fun!!

I don't like animals. I think they smell. I don't feel comfortable around them. I'm just not an animal person. On our first trip, we thought about skipping Animal Kingdom, but decided that we needed to check it out. Animal Kingdom is awesome. The amount of detail that went into creating some of the scenery is just amazing. We enjoy the safari ride because we can see animals, but we don't have to smell them :Pinkbounc The Kali River Rapids (I think that's right) is a great ride, but we skipped it in February. We LOVED the Tarzan show. Great. Fantastic. The Tree of Life has to be seen. We never spend a whole day there. I don't need to explore the nature part of it. It's not my thing. I know for some people it is. You'd be missing out, though, to just skip the park because you don't like animals. There is an amazing group of acrobats/gymnastics guys that you have to see. This is definitely not an all day park for us. I'm planning on going to EMH and being done by noon or so.

Yeah, I do have a PS at Boma that evening. So I was thinking about doing another park in the morning and then heading over to AK during the afternoon. What time should I go to AK if I absolutely must see the safari, It's Tough to Be a Bug, and perhaps the Lion King thing?

thnx!

I wasn' t very interested in AK and skipped it a couple of trips, but then last trip we went and I loved it. I really wish I hadn't skipped it before. The Lion King show is awesome. It was SO much better than I anticipated! I'd recommend you go to AK!!! I can't give you a rec on the time, though. I just noticed that it got more crowded in the afternoon.

For the first cople of years that AK was open we included it on our schedule just because. Then we found how wonderful the Festival of the Lion King is, Primeval Whirl was built and then we discovered Tarzan Rocks. Now we find ourselves really looking forward to AK. Like others have suggested, we go early and try to miss the hottest part of the day because AK does seem to be hotter than the other parks.

I would go to AK for the shows and rides alone. I thought I would hate it and ended up loving AK and can't wait to go back. I did not do the animals there though I stayed to see the shows and the rides and definete don't miss.

The biggest problem I see with going in the afternoon is that you risk not being able to see all the shows you want....

Because they are not continously running, you will need to know the times so there aren't any conflicts and you don't have "wasted time" waiting between shows/attractions that you want to do.

Also, I'd need to check the current schedule, but I believe AK opens the earliest of all the parks in the a.m., which might help you get more done in a day.
