We are booked for a 3 night stay at the AKL in concierge. Can anyone give me some ideas on what rooms to request. We are a family of 5 and like to be close to the elevator, lobby, etc. Also, we would like to be on the 6th floor where the concierge lounge is. We have never stayed at AKL or in concierge. We are soooooooooooooo excited. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. In advance, THANKS for the input.
:D :D :D

There are no bad rooms at the AKL concierge! The two choices are savannah or pool, and either one is good. The reason I don't push the savannah view is because there are so many places to view the animals that I don't think it really matters if you see them from your room. I suppose it is very important to some, but we spent 12 nights in concierge, and had 6 nights in each view. More importantly than the view, make sure you get reservations for the morning jungle safari. I would call now and get ressies because they are very busy and can be hard to get. It was the best thing we did on that trip!! Have a blast! PS, the floor is in a U shape and EVERYTHING is close to the elevator, you can see it from almost every room door.

I believe its 60 days. I believe your concierge advisor booklet, questioneer, phonecall???,,,will come more than 60 days ahead of your trip.

We are having our first concierge stay also, it is also going to be at the AKL. We are going at the end of October. A little more than six months out.

Next week I am going to make Cirque reservations and I am going to initiate contact with the concierge folks about four months out.....HOW DOES THAT SOUND???? (to the more experienced concierge folks)

Really the only things concierge can do that far out is reserve the safari and any dinner reservations you may want, although unless there is a special one, like Cinderallas castle, you may want to actually wait until you get there and decide then what you would like then. As far as room types go, the best idea is to make your requests at the time of booking- or call and add them, then call or email AKL about 5 days out and remind them. They are so nice there they will do anything they can to help. They truly want you to have a good time there.

I guess the concierge staff has some juice getting PSs, but I think waitng till you get down there will lock you out of many things.

The last time we went down, I started making PSs at CP, LTT, 1900 PF, and a few more, I started about a month before we were to leave, I couldn't make any for breakfast at all, none, not a one.

I think that you have to use the 60 day window for many things. Breakfasts especially.

I plan to e-mail them about 120 days before with a few of the things I am going to want to do. I will ask them when we should really start talking and getting down to business.

Hi! We are from Lee's Summit - small world, huh? ;)
We stayed in AKL concierge last summer with a family of 5 as well.
After much research on these boards, I requested a 5th floor bunkbed room overlooking Arusha Savannah. I knew I wanted a savannah view and wanted to be overlooking the "main" savannah.
We were placed in a 6th floor savannah room overlooking Sunset Savannah. It is pretty, but the view out of our balcony was partially obscured by the thatch roofing that comes down. (Picky, I know - but when you're spending that kind of money, you can be picky!). We requested to be moved and the next day, they were able to move us to a room with bunkbeds on 5th floor Zebra Trail. We had a much better view there, and it was only a short walk above the gorgeous lobby to the elevators that took us to the concierge lounge.
So it just matters what's important to you - if you can get a savannah view, go for it, because there's nothing like sitting on your balcony with a cup of coffee gazing out at the animals. Amazing!!
