Hi all

I was woundering if anyone has taken the Backstage Safari @ Animal Kingdom and what they thought of it. We have a grand gathering in January and we were thinking about doing this as a group. :grouphug:

Christmas Family BWGV Trip 12-1 to 12-14 MVMCP :santa: 12-1 and CP

:cheer2: - Grand Gathering :grouphug: Trip 1-21 to 1-29 OKW

I took this one several years back, it is, like all the tours are, GREAT!! If gives a nice overall insight into the workings of AK, backstage...animal housing, feeding, health, etc. I think it is very worthwhile, time and money.

Here is some more info on it, and make sure to get any discounts that apply to you and your group.....

I took it last November. I loved it, but then again, I love everything about Animal Kingdom. I was very impressed with our guide-if he didn't know the answer to a question, he got on his walkie talkie and attempted to get the answer immediately. Someday, I look forward to doing Wild By Design too.

:thanks: Thanks for the quick reply. I will let my family know, and I will book it for our January trip. pixiedust:

That is where I took this and many more like it. I liked learning about how the animals are kept and cared for and the safari was nice because the guide would stop the driver so we could get a better look at the animals. Their kitchen was huge and I think they have a better diet than me. I also think the animals were more active because it was so much earlier in the morning then when we normally see them. The buffet breakfast was to die for too. When we were in the back being educated about the Rhinos, we were right next to where they keep the cheetah's. They looked at us through the fence as if we might be breakfast ;) Pictures were not allowed until we got to the safari otherwise I would post them. Have a great time. :cool1:

wkrider, is this the Sunrise Safari, from AKL, you are referring to?

I was considering doing the backstage safari as well. It sounds really interesting and fun. That picture of the lion is just great. Kitty cat!

We were staying in the concierge at AKL. We did the safari tour at AKL but that was in the evening with dinner at Jiko and a wine pairing. One if not both of the tours was offered to AKL concierge only but I can't remember which. My DW would know. I do remember meeting in the concierge and taking a van to AK.

We have been on this tour as well and had a blast. We learned all sorts of things about AK. We would definately recommend this tour to people.

Does your Grand Gathering include young kids? I think there's an age limit of over 16 for this tour.

Just hoping to prevent confusion for mikmin (or maybe creating it, LOL). Here are links to the tour available to everyone, and links for the AKL concierge tours.......

wkrider, GREAT picture there of that lion. :thumbsup2 WOW!!

I went on the Backstage Safari Tour the year before last and LOVED it! We got to pet a white rhino and a chinchilla. It was so cool! We also learned so much about Disney's desire for animal conservation - I was quite impressed!

Well worth the time and money! :thumbsup2
