Animal Kingdom and Affection Section...worth it/how long?

I like to go there and I'm there about 90 minutes between the waiting for the train, riding the train, walking around, seeing the characters, watching some of whatever is going on in the vet area, shopping at the little store that often has things I haven't seen elsewhere in the park, and occasionally doing the petting zoo.

I don't go there every trip. Usually every 3rd trip. I bet your kids would like it.

We went on our first trip when our kids were 4, 2 and 5 months because it was on the touring plan we were following. The wait for the train took forever (1st week of May). I sat down to nurse the baby while everyone else was going on ahead. 30 minutes later I went to go get in line for the train and they were still waiting in line! I don't know if that's normal as we have not tried again on any other visits to AK. IMO, it took up way too much time and was not worth it to see a few animals they could see at a petting zoo at home.

Dinosaur is scary for ages 0 -150... (after 150yrs we may not be afraid of much)

Seriously though... It's dark and dinosaurs..large and loud..jump out of the darkness and breathe in your face.

I agree. I almost peed my pants on my honeymoon. DH is trying to convince me to let 5 yr old DD on it. No WAY

The first time I rode Dinosaur, it was neat, and kinda scary, but fun.

The second I rode Dinosaur I was in the front right seat in the vehicle.

I screamed so loud and crouched and hid when that dino came out IN MY FACE. I was 25 at the time My husband continues to make fun of me for it, and I refuse to ride int hat front right seat ever again. Its not nearly so scary from the back row We should have bought the picture from that one, because me grabbing DH and hiding was pretty priceless.

As to Rafiki's plaet watch - I love it. If you like animals and learn or petting zoos, its neat. the small animal show they do to the right of the petting zoo is worth the 10 minutes to see. I've seen Rafiki and Jiminy Cricket there for characters. And got to pet an agouti they had out :-D

It's cute - long walk from the train to the main area. If it's a long trip might as well do it. When we're on more limited time it's usually the first thing that gets taken off our list of things to do.
