Animal Kingdom after dark??

I may be late...but is there anything special to do at AK after dark?? We've never been there after dark before!

We leave a WEEK from today & just noticed AK is open till 8 pm twice that week!

Does the safari ride run after dark??

Are there other rides that close after dark??

AK isn't open after dark. I think that is because it would be too hard to see the animals. I am surprised it is open until 8:00 pm next week, since it will be dark by then.

Ak usually closes at 5 every day, even in peak season. Are you sure it's not the Rainforest Cafe there that is open till 8?

Everytime I've been to Animal Kingdom the safari closes at Dusk. It is rare to see the park open after dark. We were there one year when it was open in the evening and it was mainly the shows and rides that were open after dark. I also felt the park was not as well lit as the other parks.

I just looked at the hours this morning & saw that AK was open until 8pm on the 22nd & on the 26th.

That's why I was asking if anything closed. We have never been there after dark.

Anyone else ever been there after dark??

Pandy Paws (Safari Driver) said that the Safari will close at dusk even if the park stays open until 8:00.

We will be there when AK is open late also and planned to see AK that day. Also wondering what it will be like at night. Hope someone has been!

I'm curious to know myself. I would think that the safari would be closed at dusk because Disney seems to keep the animals on a natural schedule. I imagine that using alternative lighting for the savannahs and the roads would only confuse them. That being said, I don't think that you'd be able to see any of the animals in the exhibits. It would probably be kind of cool to be there at night, but your attraction choices might be pretty limited.

I haven't seen an attraction schedule, but I know that we are open late during thanksgiving week.

Safaris have been closing at 4:30 since the end of Daylight Savings Time. I would imagine they'll continue to close early, even if the park is open later.

Dinosaur, Primieval Whirl, and Its Tough to be a Bug will probably be open later. Not sure about Kali, I'd guess that the 2 trails (Pangini and Maharaja) won't be open later, but I could be wrong. They may add later showtimes for FotLK and Tarzan, probably no extra showtimes for Pocohantas, and unsure if the Flights of Wonder theater has lighting.

If you are planning on going to AK on one of the later evenings, I do have a little bit of advice for you. Bug Spray. Very useful. I've been getting at least 2 or 3 mosquito bites every night when I've been working close lately.

I've been there after dark before. It is very peaceful because most people leave right after the parade. They sometimes have a FOTLK show that is right before closing but for the most part, alot of the things are closed after dark. The rides over in Dinoland may be running but honestly, I usually just walk around and enjoy the peace of the park.

We HAVE done the safari after dark before. They used huge spot lights on top of the vehicles to shine on any animals that were out and about. This was when AK first opened and since then they have been closing early. Maybe they are trying it again?
