Animal Kingdom After Dark

Wonderful shots. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think I've ever seen photos of AK at night. They are breathtaking!

Great looking shots Jeff. I believe my favorite would be #5. I also have the 486RC2 ballhead and really enjoy it. Thanks for posting these!

:worship: Wonderful!!

Very nice! That must have been fun.

:worship: Absolutly beautiful pics!! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks all! :goodvibes

Beautiful! I really like #1 and #8, although picking just two is hard. They are all wonderful :) .

Terrific pictures. These are the first night shots of AK that I've seen & they're amazing!

Wow. The park has almost an entirely different feel/look at night. You did a great job capturing that. Beautiful photos.

We are hoping to do the evening emh on our first night there in June. Not sure my photos will be as awesome as yours - but you have inspired me.

Great shots as usual, Jeff. We should be there at least one sorta-late night next trip (8pm one night, maybe as late as 9pm the last night but probably not) so hopefully I'll get a chance to get a few more night photos also.

Am I the only one who doesn't really like the way EE looks at night? :confused3 I just can't imagine why they decided to light it purple of all colors.

They also seem to have changed the lighting a little since how it looked in January 2007. Here's your shot:

They do have some nicely colorful lamps at night!

I thought this was an interesting (and strange) sculpture...

And, of course, the sign you never want to see!

Nice work- I was there last September and it was not lit at all- except by the full moon.

I like the purple... it just something to the Mt. Not sure what.. but i like it. Who knows.. they may change the color of it once in a while.. to give it a different look every now and then. :confused3

Nice pictures everyone!

Excellent work once again Jeff. I was able to do an evening EMH at AK on our last trip and LOVED it for photography. Got a lot of similar shots as yours. It really is nice seeing that part at night.

Keep up the great work.

Groucho maybe it was one of those odd nights. Or maybe different white balance. Also the angle might have something to do with it. My shot from there (behind the Flame Tree) of EE is pretty much the same as Jeff's and I got mine back in early Dec '07:

OK, you may have convinced me that it will be necessary to pack or ship a tripod next time I go to the World:thumbsup2

Jeff, I agree about the cool frog-covered piece. I have a shot of a similar one with rats all over it that I like a lot, but it was taken during the day so it's not appropriate for this thread. :)

Kyle, WB is certainly part of it (I adjusted mine somewhat to get a bluish sky, you and Gdad have a browner sky in your shots) but it still seems purple in both photos, and there is the bright area in mine. Actually, I was thinking that maybe I took my shot when a train was going back into the mountain and they were taking the Photopass photos? That might account for the bright section in the middle of the mountain. It's hard to tell from that angle if that's where the trains go back in. I'll definitely be trying to take another night photo of it next trip and I'll see if I can get shots from both locations. All this for something that I think is poorly colored at night. Maybe I'll just have to go with b/w photos... hmmm... ;)

Hmm... Jeff... Kyle... hey, that's my name! :rotfl2: (It really is, actually.)

Really nice photos, everyone's, but I especially like the full moon photo. I got eaten alive by misquitos when I was taking night shots at AK in October!

LOVE these pics!!!:goodvibes
Plans changed..... did not make the August 08 trip....
headed down June 28, 2009..... for 10 days.
Certainly there will be EMH in the evening for AK..... I will plan for it!!!!

as the odd ball of the group (as usual ) i like the boat one best and the one with the light from the kid:lmao: but all are nice by all the photographers who posted...just wondering what cheap tripod you have? i want a cheap "don't do nothing but hold the camera but weighs an lb or" so tripod just to use on handshaky days. i remember seeing posts long ago about one, think it was vel???????and about $70 ish? thanks if anyone knows what i'm talking about

LOVE these pics!!!:goodvibes
So I actually tried to schedule my trip in August to make sure that I have an opportunity to visit AK at night.
The day I arrive is evening EMH at AK.... I will be there. Other than that... it closes at 8 and it won't get dark till after 9.
So... hopefully my plane won't get delayed or anything!!!

Sorry to bump an old thread (someone linked to it in another thread, so it isn't my fault!), but I wanted to ask something along these lines. We generally vacation in late August. If we visit AK on an evening EMH night, will it be dark? Has anyone here taken night shots at AK in the summer months, or is it not even dark enough at the close of evening EMH?
