Animal Kingdom After Dark

i never look at the dates so i'm reading along being dazzled by the photos thinking it's a new thered and i see my post, what????? deja vue all over again:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: well the photos are worth viewing again

Awesome photos! I missed this thread the first time around so thanks for bumping it.

This has really inspired me to visit AK after dark in September (if AK is open at dark in September).

Sorry to bump an old thread (someone linked to it in another thread, so it isn't my fault!), but I wanted to ask something along these lines. We generally vacation in late August. If we visit AK on an evening EMH night, will it be dark? Has anyone here taken night shots at AK in the summer months, or is it not even dark enough at the close of evening EMH?

Unfortunately, I don't think you would end up there at DARK (although maybe dusky). Historically, AK seems to have their evening EMH on Wednesdays. I checked the park hours for August of 2008 and the last Wednesday of the month was August 27th and they closed at 5:00pm---making EMH last until 8:00pm. I checked the sunset times in Orlando for August 2008 and on the 27th official time of sunset was 7:52pm. If you go earlier in the month, sunset is past 8:00pm. If you go later (like in September) sunset will be around 7:30-7:45pm.

During our trip this coming December, if the schedule continues as it has, sunset is at 5:30pm, so we'll have 2.5 hours (give or take) of AK at dark. I can't wait.

We've gone the last week in September/first week October the last 2 years. It seems like you get about 30 minutes of dark before closing time. If you drag out your exit, you can snap some good dark shots for another 30 minutes at least. I've never been asked to leave by a cast member, just my family. Someday I'm going to let my wife takke the rental and I'll just ride a bus back to the resort so I can really drag out my exit.

THANK YOU for bumping this thread. I am new to the boards and these photos are just amazing. It once again reminds me how much AK has to offer that I tend to miss. I can't wait to spend more time there. My friend is bringing her tripod so hopefully we can get some great shots...nothing near as good as these I think though!

Cool shots, thanks for sharing.

I have to say the pics that have been posted are absolutely SPECTACULAR!! :thumbsup2

Is there a spot to buy a coffee or drink by the boats on the left side of this pucture? I would enjoy just hanging out there for a little while taking in the the view

I didn't even know that AK did EMH in the evening...I think we may have to try that in September. If you get there after 5 on an EMH night, will they still let you in? :confused3

My husband is bringing his Nikon and new tripod on this trip and AK looks beautiful at night! I know he would LOVE to take some shots!

Awesome pictures ...thanks for sharing. Sad know that I missed the extended hours night at AK. Of course it was pouring out, so not so sure I would have gotten any nice shots like these.

Stunning photos everyone! :worship:

We also missed out on evening EMH in April due to heavy rain the day we were going to stay late. Never mind, there's always next time, and hopefully I get more practice in with my new camera before then. :goodvibes

Thanks so much for bumping this! I was thinking the same thing too- we're going in September and I specifically planned going to an AK EMH in order to get night pics. I do think I'll be pushing it though to get it dark dark- probably stay a little longer past the 8pm closing time.

Can't wait to try out my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 and see what I can get in terms of that awesome star effect!! :goodvibes

Finally got over to AK for a few hours of photography after dark with the new tripod. All pictures taken with D300 + Sigma 30mm f1.4. Aperature Priority at f11, ISO 200.

absolutely wonderful pictures! who wouldnt want to go there at night now?

i have planned out my entire trip, without scheduling AK at night, now i want to revisit and see if i can add it in anywhere!!
