Animal Kingdom a major Flop!

I love AK. It's my favorite park. I love FOTLK, Finding Nemo, EE, Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro's Safari, and Primeval While. I even love the Chester and Hester area. I think of it as the "kiddie part" of the park.

DHS is my least favorite. I only go there for TSM and Fantasmic. However, I wouldn't call it a flop just because I don't like it.

To each, his own. That is why Disney is so well loved by so many. There is something for everyone.

I hope you enjoy your next trip to AK, but if you don't plan on going back at least that's one less person I'll be in line behind. :rotfl:

DAK is lacking something, because it was built to have another land with another 3 attractions, one A ticket, one C ticket, and an E ticket. TO say it's perfect as it is not only a slap in that face to Walt Disney himself, and the Imagineering team who made the never realized Beastly Kingdom, but also a pat on the back to one of most infamous leaders in Disney history, Michael Eisner. While there is no doubt that what we have of the part is high quality and defiantly up to Disney's par, it still lacks something, which Disney knows because if it didn't it wouldn't close at 5 most of the year.

There have been countless attempts to "fix" the park with very little avail. The first the Everest, which was an amazing addition, but the night time parade "Rivers of Light" failed to come to life due to flaws made in the construction of the park's walk ways not allowing proper sized floats to pass with the audience watching. Also, as mentioned the never brought to life Beastly Kingdom. And then the lack of basic rides in the park. What most parks have is alot of little atracions to soak up the people, all DAK have is E ticket rides and shows. There really aren't any little rides to soak up the people.

While the quality of the park is high, in terms of quantity it is defiantly lacking, and only a sheep or a dodo bird would say otherwise.

Hopefully we will get a new version of the Beastly Kingdom, as its has been rumored to be in development. That, an Australia land, and a night time show would bring it up to Disney par.

that's too bad..I guess it really to each their own...I love AK..but I have a small child so we enjoy the Animals at AK. I really wish they had more animals..I really wish they would stop pretending there's a LION in the Safari Ride...I never get to see that guy or I only see what looks like his mane.

Ha!!

Once in a while, you do get a chance to see both the mail and female. But you're right, it doesn't happen very often.

One of my most memorable safari moments is coming to the rock, seeing the King of the Jungle stand up, open his mouth, and . . . . . . . cough up a hairball!

"Not to be out done by the Dino Institute, they created their own version of DINOSAUR named Primeval Whirl."
I love love love Primeval Whirl!

a slap in that face to Walt Disney himself
Walt Disney is dead, actually.

Animal Kingdom Park is great because it was designed and development is overseen by the incredible Joe Rodhe. No one epitomizes the best of the best in theme park imagination like Joe Rodhe.

OMG!!! When did he die?! How did this not make the news? This is like the biggest death of the 2000's!

Walt Disney always was in favor of the company spending money to add to the parks, and change things so they would not get old. It's been over 10 years an we have 1 new ride. Back in the days of Disneyland where were 3 E tickets built 5 years after the parks grand opening. This is the thought process that gave us Walt Disney World. It is an insult to him not to see that the company he built is going against his belief in what his parks should be, and would be ashamed to see that his name is nothing but a label to many people today.

It is a park that feels unfinished. It's as simple as that.

As a former English major, I plead with you to proofread. Seriously, though, the only slap in the face to Walt Disney is Epcot. He intended for Epcot to be an actual city of the future, with people living in it and testing out new technologies. In fact, his Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow was the obsession of the last few years of his life. He would be very disappointed that it never became what he intended. He thought it would be his legacy. I say this, however, as one who loves Epcot as it is.

As to Animal Kingdom closing at 5pm most days, this has nothing to do with the quality of the park. It is because of the animals. Most zoos across the country close at sunset for the same reason, to let the animals rest and sleep.

I love AK. It's an interesting park, very lushly themed. Having said all of that, however, I will agree that it could use something more. I do think it really needs Beastly Kingdom. On the other hand, people who don't enjoy strolling around looking at live animals will probably never really love AK.

I always wonder at people who think they know what Walt would and would not like.:sad2: No one knows for sure what he would or wouldn't have done. If you truly believe in something, stand up for it without having to use Walt as back-up.

No he wasn't. You're making stuff up.

Precisely my point.

I would love for you to go back and check for my grammar errors. I doubt you would find any more than the ones that you made, which I kindly pointed out. You obviously have a love for the "," and a hate for the ";". If you want to get grammatically correct on me you would know that for the use of word like "however". It's actually used like so, "I like Disney World a lot; however, I must say that Disneyland is better." This comes from a correct English major who memorized the Little Brown Handbook (relatively speaking). I just try not correct people's grammar unless it's truly unbearable for an online forum.

Actually, if you go and look at the layout of the park you will see that the upper half is build as the "zoo" and the lower part is the "theme park", at least in the original design plan. The non-watered down Dinoland with 5 rides, Everest, Tough to be a Bug, 3 rides from the Beastly kingdom, and the nighttime parade would allow the park to be open to, at least ,7-8 most nights of the year. That's how the park was designed. Budget cuts got in the way and that how we got what we now have.

...yes, because Walt financing his house to build Disneyland was not proof of that. And this is what I was referring to,

"Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world." -Walt Disney.

And yes, that does back up my post.

I have to give the original poster some points of agreement. The park could use a few new attractions. But, next to Tokyo Disney Seas, Animal Kingdom is one of the most beautiful of the Disney Parks. As another response shows, spend some time and just enjoy the park, watch the people. Check out the architecture. I think if you look at the parks as more that attractions, you will enjoy them more.:confused3

Who said the park IS finished. There'll be more. Think of all the naysayers who winged and moaned about EPCOT in the beginning.

Just wait.

Funny, there was a time when I agreed with you...my first two visits were not enjoyable, our third trip we didn't bother to even visit AK. It was hot, crowded and put me in a bad mood. However, we gave it another shot, and now I kinda like it, we have been three times over our last few trips. It's not a full-day park for us, we try to miss the crowds, find shade and enjoy. It's a nice change. I do understand how you feel and agree it may not be for everyone. I somewhat feel that way about Hollywood Studios, only a few rides, lots of crowded shows.

I am also sorry you feel this way. I love AK. It is to me the most beautiful of the parks. I do think it is the hottest park because the air just does not flow through it well but the scenery and the sounds as you walk through are just breath taking to me.:lovestruc

Ask yourself why Roy O. Disney was CEO and President of the company -- not Walt. Even Walt knew what you apparently don't.

Precisely. This spending money on new attractions every year is a ridiculously unreasonable expectation, something that not even Walt would have trafficked in, assuming Roy would have let him make such foolish errors.

OK, all we know is that the OP doesn't like AK and many do. To some AK appears incomplete. I don't like the direction of Epcot and Bicker does. Some things never change. ;)

Seriously the comments about AK being so hot because the actual jungle is hot are interesting. I'll buy that when I believe that the jungle is also very crowded. For me the feeling of heat is only increased by the mass of people trying to squeeze through the narrow walkways.

The AK is my least favorite park, I too think they are a little light on attractions there.Everest definitely helped, I do think for the price of admission (which goes up every year) they need to add a few more headliners. That is just my opinion though and everyone is entitled to one.

Actually, I did know that because Walt would have run the business into the ground from overspending, which I said in my original post in more or less words. He did it with Snow White and the building of Disneyland. He may have been cheap in terms the union, but he spent money on what he believed in. Roy was business savvy, thus he ran the company, but without the imagination and exceptions of Walt we would not have what we have today.

You will find fault in every post I make, even though in the next post you will say I'm right in other words. We obviously agree on somethings, but your attitude is trying on my nerves.

My post was to those saying that the park is perfect as is and shouldn't have any rides added, and yes there are those posters on here. I was not saying that it's a bad park, but unfinished. Do not test my knowledge on the subject of Walt, as I most likely know more than you just off the top of my head. Do not throw random facts at me as I will only use them to prove myself right, as I just did.
