I'm going through the list of attractions at AK listed on the WDW site. Several are listed as "X Disney Animal" and described as an animal encounter. For example African Elephants, Gorillas, Lions. From what I remember these animals were in exhibits that you came across in the Junge Trek and Forest Exploration Trail. Am I remembering that correctly, or has that changed?

Not sure what you are asking. The animals are there to be seen on the Safari or the Trails. That's it

They do have a petting zoo if you ride the train over to Conservation station, but it is not going to be big or dangerous animals like that. Maybe goats or something. I have never done that part- no kids!

I just wondered if there was a new setup or a show or something. You answered it. Thanks!
Ah, ok. I think they are trying to feature the animals they have designated as ones they provide funds for with their Conversation Programs on property.

I think for the purposes of the description, an "encounter" is seeing the animal, not touching it.

They've got a new rare breed of goats, which as a goat owner is cool

Um, my husband and I are in our 50s and always check out Affection Section. Him for the goats, me for the hairy pigs. There are also sheep and other animals and a show of some sort (we either haven't been there at the right time or didn't have the time to stay for it). I leave the brush for the little kids but I patiently wait my turn to pet a pig. Nothing should be left out of a Disney World trip just because you don't have kids.
