Animal Crossing Issues...

Lisa - My husband's day job is working with computers and he agrees with Ian, that you may want to try and connect the Wii with a land line. He also mentioned that you need to check to make sure that the router is set to connect wirelessly if you want it wireless. And he agrees with Ian about the signal strength. Also check to may sure your computers are hacked free. That you have some kind of defense for outsiders. It sounds like someone is connecting into your internet connection through a wireless means and soaking up all your internet strength. My husbands sits in our living room and he can always check to see whose internet connection is open in the neighborhood because they haven't put a block on their system. If you need help checking let me know.

Have a look at this page here-
Setting up Wireless on the Wii

When you get to the page that lists available access points-

Did yours have a padlock? If it didn't, and you didn't have to enter a password for the Wii to connect, then your wireless is available to anyone within range. They could use your internet, and potentially access any folders on your PC that you are sharing.

They also recommend channels 1 or 11 on the router as being more free of interference.

Oh dont you worry abouot it!! We are just fine. I just wish we could figure out why our system freezes like that. Especially if we are not losing our internet connection. It only does it when we have our gate open or we are visiting, so it has to be something with the Wii connection.:sad2:

But please...dont you dare change your time or anything, I don't want to mess up anything in your beautiful town just to sell our turnips!! :)

See, Ian says it'll be ok. Do you want to try tonight? Let me know and let me know what time, I'll make sure Greg or I open the gate.
and Ian, I'll add your friend code to mine.

Hi Fellow Animal Crossing Addicts!

My good news first:

1. I caught the elusive Coelacanth!!! I was in complete and utter shock!!! I ran to Tom Nooks just to see what he'd give me for it, but I did end up donating to the museum (Blathers loves me).

2. For my bday on Wednesday my hubby got me....the wireless router I asked for!! Wooohooo!!! :yay: I can finally visit new towns! I can finally find out what all the fuss is about!

Now for the bit of bad news...

The stupid wireless router wouldn't work. :sad1: My niece's boyfriend (expert in all things computer) was attempting to hook it up for me and he thinks it may be brand-related. We are returning it today, buying a different brand, and will try to install it tonight. It must work. Or, as our town animals like to say..."I't won't.....It' won't.....IT WILL!!!!" Keep your fingers crossed for us!

Gotta Get To Disney! :moped:

Wow, a Coelacanth!!! You must have good Karma!!!! :dance3: :woohoo:
Nancy will be so jealous when she gets back.

We don't have one either.....let us know when you're up and running!!

Awww thank you. Because Ian is our Official Animal Kingdom Grand Poobah (that is a perfect tag if I ever saw it!!) and said it would be okay, then please, that would be great as the turnip price this evening in wishes is.....56 bells! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I am going to hop on now and do some pattern laying so we can work on the town this weekend. Then Matt has his karate demo team practice at 7 so we will be home around 8:15-8:30 and back on again. :guilty:

If that does not work for you, I totally understand and really its not a big deal. It would just be at the same value as my GE Stock so I am actually getting quite used to it!;) Or if you leave the gate open, we promise not to touch anything. We will be in and out! LOL.

Does Greg have our info? I will have to add him.:)

Gate's open, turnips at 146.
Doing chores around the house, so may not be around at all times if you visit.

Come on over Lisa!!! We're waiting for you (:

I have the gate open now,

Lois

It did it again Lois.:sad2: I can't believe it. I swear it seems like we have 15 minutes from the time we open or go out before it freezes up. I am so so sorry. :sad1:

We do have to enter a password and we are set on channel 11. The other night he even bought a new router the Wii would not connect at all. He unplugged it and plugged in the new one and it connected (only for a little bit before freezing up...but at least no error message).

Oh, that's ok! I just felt bad cause when I got back to Disney, I had your gifts back in my pocket!!! I tried your gate, but I'm sure you must be too frustrated to try.

You need a computer geek to help you out. Not me or Greg, can't help you there.

We'll try again tomorrow if you want - we'll act quickly!!

We came up and were grilling my DH with the questions/suggestions that were left here for us yesterday and then went back down and opened up for a little bit. When it froze up for us, what happened to you? Did you have to reset anything or did you just end up in Disney (boy that has a nice ring to it huh!:cloud9: )

We just feel bad visiting other towns or having people over because we can shut down at any second. I wish there was a way to "save and keep playing" without having to restart the game. It is not fair to others that we mess everything up.

On a positive note....we now have I think almost half of our town mapped out so we should hopefully be able to finish that up today and start counting and planting. :goodvibes And our fountain ::should:: arrive today!!! :dance3:

Great job on that catch of the day!!! Good for you!!! :cool1: :cool1: Hope you had a great birthday too! :) :)

Hope you have good luck with the router, we are a train wreck with ours as you can see by all my pleas for help that I feel like a dope because I have taken over the thread. :guilty: There are so many beautiful towns here to go visit once you are up and running!!! :goodvibes

Heck - I'm jealous now!!!!!!!!

I've been reading you guys for the last couple days. Needed something to do before and after funeral stuff and it was too noisy to edit segments (remind me to tell you about Floyd - my brother's 90 inch projection TV and how you can't talk when shows are on....)

I'm suffering AC withdrawl am worried about my flowers, which I know Zoe is watering - honey - I meant to ask you to give her the gold can til I come back. Also, did anyone move into Gusitown yet?????

Today I'm having lunch at Imo's Pizza with Halliesmommy (Becky) from chat. I went out with some of my best friends yesterday, and a friend I hadn't seen in 15 years came to the visitation. It's been a good week. I've slept really well, too - I even crashed in the middle of a conversation at a friend's house - slept for an hour + on their sofa! They had a good laugh about it - they've been surrogate parents to us for decades...

I'm ready to come home, though.

Forgot to tell you that Jeremiah moved in, just on the north side of the middle bridge.

Did anyone lose a frog? We've already had a frog, I was hoping for a new type of animal.

The gate is open now if anyone is playing. I'm waiting for someone from the UK to come over and get some paths.

It's ok! Since I know what's happening. I just said Lisa? Lisa? a few times and figured out you were locked again. Then something about being disconnected or something popped up with a Resetti picture. I ended up with a safe shutdown (not one that would make Resetti unhappy) no big deal. Hope you get it worked out and get your fountain today. It's fishing contest day! So far I'm in the lead (ok only I've played so far) with a 13+ Crucian Carp. Wonder how big they get!!

I'm gonna actually try to do some housework now. Fishing contest notwithstanding I do have other things to do:confused3

See ya tonight maybe!

We miss you here on the boards!! Its nice that you got to visit with friends. Take care!

Yay, our wireless router is a go! Well...I think so anyway! Haven't tried swapping codes with anybody yet and after seeing dvcfamily's post, I'm a little bit scared to try.

Question: Did everybody just post their friend codes, names, towns, etc. right here on the boards or did you send them by pm? I'm not sure if I should be nervous about posting my info? I would be safe from a town-destroying maniac if we never swapped codes, right- he/she couldn't access my town otherwise? Please put my mind at ease. :)

I'm also guessing that everybody here has the same "rules" for town visitation? i.e., family friendly, no running, no tromping on flowers, etc.?

Thanks for all of your help!

Gotta Get To Disney! :moped:
