Animal Crossing Issues...

I have something up for auction now. Mine is the only thing on display at the auction place. I had no idea what to ask for it. or actually when the auction is. It's a learning process.

I can answer a handful of these questions.

1) Disconnects from WiiConnect:
Note to everyone - If you are visiting and you see that your actions have lag time - leave immediately, so you can get the save at the gate. My mistake from yesterday.

Nicole - sorry about losing the connection. i tried to get back. I should have bugged out as soon as I saw a time delay when i tried to pick your weeds. (Also, you guys weren't the someone.... this is a different scheme!)

2) Auctions - only we players can bid on Auctions. If you have more than one person playing in your town - spouse, kids, etc., they can all post up and bid on things in the Auction house.

I had an auction up for 2 weeks and they mailed it back. The checkroom is a great place to pick up forgotten objects or change into other clothes when you go to the city.

3) The Starman
Kevin - The starman is like Diver Dan (he was my house buddy for a while). He just stands there - kind of like those creepy movie star cutouts that some folks buy. He goes with the space theme. Kev - you can always name him Aunt Mary, dress him up in an apron and have a tea party with headless dolls...... or not. :lmao:

What is the highest price you have seen for turnips?

I bought white turnips for 93 bells on Sunday, yesterday during the day I was offered 117 by Tom Nook, but I wasn't sure if that was good. Last night the price dropped some, I think I could have sold for 97 bells.

Two weeks ago we sold ours for 510. We never seen them at that price again since.

I should be able to get on for a few hours tonight (GMT!) and I'll leave my gate open incase anyone pops by :thumbsup2

LOL ya we made a good penny ...I mean a a good bell.:rotfl2: Then last week we missed the turnip lady then this week I have not seen it higher than 79 bells. I was holding out for 510 again. Am I right to assume that that is a rare price?

I was lucky to sell mine for 430 bells apiece this past week. I'm sure next week I'll be taking a loss... law of averages you know :upsidedow I also sold my red turnip for 16,000 bells on Saturday

A quick question too - is there a trick to shooting down those darn balloons? I seem to spend more time chasing them and then firing & missing. It takes me forever to knock it down?

just keep shooting and shooting, try to get near the shadow of the balloon. I got so good I got a gold slingshot that shoots 3 rocks at a time! Make sure you can see it in front of you when you shoot.

I've had luck hitting the balloon with the slingshot when I am standing in the shadow of the balloon. Good luck!

thank you both so much - I'll try that approach next time one flies by. Now if I could only catch bugs too :scratchin I've become quite addept at fishing, but bugs & balloons aren't my forte...:sad2:

I'm good at the crawly bugs (centipedes and pill bugs), but those bagworms that come down out of the trees - those are a pain in the neck. But, eventually I get them (hunt down those suckers.....). The snowball bugs, those are the ones I haven't been able to figure out. I could use the secret to catching them.

Yea, whats the deal with those things...and what are they? By the time you see them they are gone...am I suppose to be able to catch them?

I have found that you hear those snowball bugs before you see them. I think you have to sneak up on them very very quietly with net in hand. Sorta like Elmer Fudd hunting rabbits.. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Unfortunately, it hasn't worked for me yet

Kind of rare. I've noticed that if I sell mine for a crazy high price (like yours) that I will have weeeeeeeeeeks of low prices. Be patient and the high prices will come around :goodvibes

Turnip prices tend to follow set patterns for the week, while what type of week you get seems to be mostly random. This is from a guide at Animal Crossing Community-

1. Rollercoaster - the prices go up and down without any predictability of direction or amount. Prices can range anywhere from 30 bells to 151 bells. If your Monday AM price is higher than your Sunday price from Joan or it is higher than 90 bells, you are going to experience a rollercoaster week.

2. Steady Decline - The price falls 1 - 5 bells each time & never increases all week.

3. Spike - The price falls 1 - 5 bells each time until Wednesday or Thursday (can be as early as Tuesday or as late as Friday) when it starts to rise. Normally there will be 3 rises in the price before the highest price (the spike) occurs. Spikes can be one of three types:

3a. Low Spike - the price after the first rise either doesn't go up much or it goes down. The price usually doesn't go over 200, but it is possible for it to get to just under 300. Sell on the 3rd price after the first rise. If the price rise starts on Thursday AM, sell on Friday PM. It is possible for the spike to happen on the 3rd rise as well. It is possible if the first rise is on Thursday AM then your spike can be on Friday AM. Bottom Line: If your price is over 180 during a low spike week, that'll be the spike.

3b. Medium Spike - the price rises 3 times in a row. The high price will be somewhere between 300 & 500. Sell on the 2nd price after the rise starts. If the rise starts on Thursday AM, sell on Friday AM.

3c. High spike - the price rises 3 times in a row. The high price will be at least 500. Sell on the 2nd price after the rise starts. If the rise starts on Thursday AM, sell on Friday AM.

There is a way to get high turnip prices every week. Keep an eye on the Animal Crossing City Folk message board at GameFAQs (I can't post a link but is an easy search). People often post threads there with subjects like "Turnips at 550, 99k entry fee". If you post your friend code to the thread you can get in line to be added to their town and sell your turnips at their Nooks.

99k sounds like a steep entry fee, but it is 10% of what you would make selling a full pocket of turnips. Many people will allow you to pay them after you sell. It can take a long time to get your turn if you don't get into the thread early. I like to keep the laptop near and keep refreshing the page while I play in case something comes up. This is best to do on Wed, Thurs and Fri nights, since that is when turnip prices tend to peak.
