Animal Crossing Issues...

Now this is a tip for Pete, since he is a serious time traveler: When we got a 602 turnip price, I went online and sold entry for 50k per trip (well below market) and made about 1.4 million bells. However the people selling turnips made much much more. A couple of them had their towns set to Sun morning when Joan is around. They would buy turnips, sell at my town, then go back to buy more, making a half dozen trips at a 750k profit each trip before my Nooks closed.

If you can get entry to a town with high turnip prices, this beats pulling weeds after a long TT trip.

The snowball bugs are dung beetles. I haven't been able to catch one yet, but you can tell if one is there because they roll the snowballs.

I watched one of these - they roll the snowball around and the one I saw pushed it in the water! I caught one but donated it to the Museum where he pushes round a ball of dung all day :goodvibes

YES! Just watch a snowball and you will definitely see it move (it is slowly but definitely noticeable). Whenever you see a snowball, try not to walk fast (or, godforbid run!) near it. Just have net in hand and sneek up ever so slowly. Sometimes you can actually see the dung beetle on the ground one side of the snowball. Just slowly aim your body towards the bug area and hit it with your net.

Good luck! Now that I have delivered one to a townie (per her request) and donated one to the flippin' owl, I keep forgetting to walk slowly :(

:cool1:Woo Hoo!!!!! My husband finally joined the DisBoards!!!! :cool1:

For those of you who haven't played AC with us, my husband is Conolan / Ian. He's the awesome design builder who just made me a DVC logo flag!!!!!

Woo Hoo! Hi, Honey!!!! :wave2:

Here is a program someone wrote to help predict when to sell your turnips. He used to write software to predict the stock market for the banking industry, and applied that experience to working out patterns in turnip prices.

You enter your turnip prices as the week goes on. Each time you enter a new price, hit "Recommend" and it will tell you if you should sell or not. We'll try it during the next week and see how well it works.

Hi Ian!!!! Nancy taught us about the crickets, now I'll set my sights on a dung beetle.

Welcome to the boards:wave2:

I haven't seen or heard these mole crickets...is it obvious when you hear them? I don't get to play with much volume usually.

The only way you know they're around is when you hear them. We heard them. I said they sound like crickets, but it took Nancy (YelllowDisneyPonchos) to teach us how to find them and catch (the hard part) them! With practice we hope to get better.

now to try for a dung beetle.

It's definitely obvious. You step into an area and hear an odd "buzzing/Chirping". My 3 yr old even tells me when they are there. They are a pain in the tukus to catch. If there is one in an area right by the river - especially the narrow parts between a cliff and river, just keep going - don't dig it up. It will think it's a leming and head straight for it's doom in the water. No time to catch it.

I think they aren't worth my time for the 300 bells. I do think everyone should have one for their museum, so I like tag team hunting for them. You should have seen/heard Lois squeal and pass the controller to her husband, so he could catch it! :rotfl2:

Oh - was I not supposed to mention that?!?:scared: :lmao:

Hi Ian,

:welcome: :wave2: Glad you can join us . Thanks for all the turnip info you gave us.

He's really good on the subject - we made over a million bells last night on the little sprouts.

My last post on the turnip program was actually Ian, disguised as me. He can't post links yet. I told him to randomly post until his count came up. :confused3 ;)

Now once he gets his postings up, he can share the link to the cool flag design program. We finished my DVC mountain logo flag last night! It looks way cool! :thumbsup2

OOOH, OOOH, OOOH...

A DVC flag - when will the link be ready? Ian can post just smileys to get his count up :) :) :) :) :)

I can't wait for that link. My artistic skills are very limited and then to try to design something on that little graph paper from the Able sisters - well you can just imagine what I come up with :sad2: I think my dogs could do better

Wait, I missed something. Where do you find mole crickets and how do you catch them?

Hi all! Can I join in on this thread?:wave2: My DS and I have just started playing this game so we are waaaaaay behind everyone. We just got our first shovels...he got it in the City yesterday because the cones were moved and I bought mine today at Nooks.

I paid my house off the other day and yesterday was asked to pick a new roof color and wanted to know if I wanted to expand (I said no since my DS said yes and it was $120,000.00 bells the next time he came back on! 0 and I signed on this moring and my house was larger and I owe Nook $120,000.00 bells!:confused3

So far the only thing we have been able to do is fish. We have donated a few of them, but we only seem to be catching the same ones (Bass, Pond Smelt, Horse Makerel, Sea Butterfly and lobsters and octapus here and there).

We have not even tried the time travel thing yet because I am afraid of messing up the town and he got his friend code but we have not done anything with it yet. Maybe this weekend we will try. My DH was so bored this past weekend because we played for almost 10 hours on Monday!! ;)

Okay, so here are some questions based on things I have read on the thread...

1. How do you build snowmen?
2. You can only buy the turnips on Sunday...is it in the City? Do you plant them when you get back to your town?
3. How are you all getting so many different fish?

Thanks so much!! When we are little more AC savy I would love to visit other towns. :)

ok - first off - Welcome to our little addiction group :)

snowmen are fun to build, you may not always get them just right( and if you don't the snowman will tell you as much ). First it's easiest to find 2 snowballs that are on the same level - trust me rolling them up and/or down the ramps is tough. So push the 1st snowball around in the snow until it's about as big around as you are tall as close to where the 2nd one is. then start pushing that one around by the first one. When it's just a bit smaller than the first, push it right into the first one. It will automatically become the head. If you did well, the snowman will mail you a gift.

always keep building your house bigger & bigger, you'll need it to keep more & more stuff in.

catching fish is just luck and patience ( just like in real life) Everytime you see a fish cast your line just ahead of it so the current takes it in front of it.

Also, as you dig up fossils, don't forget to take them to the museum 1st to be identified by Blather's. I personally have been donating the first one of each I find. After that you can sell them to Nook's.

forgot about you turnip question... sorry

you buy the turnips already grown from a vendor that wanders around your town on Sunday ( not in the city). Every day check the price at Nook's and then sell them to him when the price is higher than what you paid. Don't keep them for more than a week though, they rot...
Sometimes the turnip lady has red turnip seeds. Those you plant - wanter it faithfully every day and then dig it up after a week and sell it to Nook. I just got 16,000 bells for the last one I grew.

I am soooo good at fishing!!! From what I understand, the red turnips are always 16,000 bells (as long as you water it EVERY day). The white turnips are the tricky ones, read back a few threads as to turnip pricing ideas.

Before you know it you'll have Wii speak and your Wii hooked up to the internet and be able to host visitors - and visit other towns.

What's your local fruit. Our local fruit is cherries, but I have a good number of coconuts, and have acquired peaches, pears and apples.

But I still have a ways to go before I get my house with the basement (I covet YellowDisneyPoncho's (Nancy's). :goodvibes

I have been asked to find out if anyone can help :)
Where will you find Resseti in the city ?
