Animal Crossing-City Folk

I have only been playing this game for about a week and a half already. I am not playing on line. What I do for a living is basically fishing and selling oranges and things that I have that was given to me that I don't need or want. Is this it for me?

Since I am not playing on line, will my town grow or at least new people move in town and more houses and building? Or what I see is what I get?

TIA. :)

Cool! Thanks for the info! I do have a question though... Do you go after the hive or the bees after they are swarming around chasing you?

I really don't like those darn bees!

Go after the bees and ignore the hive. You have to swing the net just before they get to you.

Fantasia - You won't get any more big buildings in your town. Each town can have a total of 10 animals living there, so if you have fewer than that you will get more neighbors. Nook's will expand until it's Nookington's.

There will be events and special visitors throughout the year, and as the weather changes there will be different fish to catch and more bugs.
Overall, though, the game doesn't change too much. The only difference for people who have Wifi is that they can visit each other's towns to trade fruit or items, or just to socialize. The gameplay doesn't change much, though.

I have a question for you guys, hope you don't mind!

I had the original version of Animal Crossing, and I'm thinking of going out tonight and picking up this new version for my Wii. But I saw online you can buy just the game, or the game with Wii-Speak? Does anyone have it with the wii speak? I know it's not necessary, but I'm not actually sure what that extra component even does.

TIA!

It acts as a microphone when you play with other people over Wifi. If you have it, the people you are playing with can hear you talk. If they also have it then you can have conversations while you play. If they have it and you don't, you can still hear them. Eventually it's supposed to work with other games and even have it's own channel on the Wii.

We have it and it's much nicer than trying to use the in game keyboard to communicate over Wifi. It doesn't do anything witht the game itself, though, so the gameplay doesn't change at all if you have it.

I'm adding my friend code info. I PM'd some of you but now I'm just losing track so I figured I'll post it.

Can't wait to see everyone!

thanks scurvy. i can't wait to see the nookington's have to offer. it's good to know that i wouldn't be needing the wii speaker cause i won't be on line.

Ok, so we spent an hour time traveling one day forward at a time, then came back to today and I finally had enough snow to make a snowman! Unfortunately his head was a little too small so no prize. I also figured out how to catch a dung beetle. I noticed one of our snowballs was moving, so I got my net out and moved up behind him very slowly, then wham!

And, while I was typing that last sentence, my daughter caught a stringfish. I'm trying to convince her to put it in the museum, but she wants to save it for the fishing tourney. Maybe we'll get lucky and catch another one before then, since we just got the call that there won't be any school tomorrow either.

Kim ~ I caught two string fish last night. Donated the one and may save the other for Saturday. However, they are worth 15,000 bells, so I may just sell it since I would lose it by giving it to the tournament.

I found this on the beach yesterday. Has anyone else had one? The ghost asked me for it last night. I gave it to him and I had a choice of 3 things he could do for me. I chose furniture and he ended up giving me a lawn sprinkler! :rotfl2:

My son has found it both times it's shown up in our town.

I did get to play hide and seek for the first time yesterday.

ahh yeah the fishing tourney is Saturday! I forgot all about it. Sadly I won't be around so I guess my DF has won the tourney again. :sad2:

I can't wait until next Sunday (25th) for the yard sale. I made so much money at the last one!

I played that too. I had dinner on the stove and finally had to give up before I found the last animal. Can't burn dinner over Animal Crossing! :lmao:

Oooh glad you mentioned this. I should start saving all of the furniture I don't want, instead of selling it! Those are fun :)

Do I need to pull everything out of my dresser and put in on display in my room for the yard sale?

I didn't know anything about a yard sale! That sounds fun! Do you get to buy and sell?

The last time it went on (flea market), my house wasn't as big as it is now, but yes, I would think you do need to have things on display, and my guess is the main floor only. And to answer another posters question, you can buy and sell, but sometimes the animals won't always let you buy certain items in their houses.

So the sale takes place inside then? So, do I need to put away things I don't want to sell?

You can just tell them no to items they ask for that you don't want to sell. It is interesting to see who comes over :)

Hi!! I have a question. Do you have to have a router to get your friends code? I tried two times today and it said that I didn't have internet access. Thanks!

my update: i have twice paid my mortgage and have renovated twice already. i like it.. but i want to go even bigger. does anyone know how many upgrade do you get? i notice that my bedroom is still the same. will it get bigger when i reach a certain amount of upgrade. i would like to put some stuff upstairs, but right now it won't let me. thanks for any infos on this. :flower3:

From what I understand the bedroom stays the same throughout the game. The first house upgrade is a larger downstairs. Then you get an upstairs room, then you get a basement. When you pay off the mortgage from that, the you get a flag for your house. Then that's it... I think...

I am working on paying off (what I think is) my last house upgrade, I have the basement, but no flag.

I also have a new bridge. Do you only get one new bridge ever? I would really like more bridges. :upsidedow I understand that the next town upgrade is the fountain. ??
